Comments: This was my A-Race. I had trained 12 weeks for this race. I came in with a goal of 1:38:30 and when I ran the 1st mile in 6:56 and felt strong I knew I would beat it. They had the 6 mile marker facing the wrong way after the 1/2 way split which was confusing. They moved it to the correct place later on. What would you do differently?: I think a few more long training runs might have helped. I was getting some calf cramps in the last mile and my splits were tapering off. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed a water and banana. Walked to car for Gatorade and back for 2 bagels. What limited your ability to perform faster: A little tightness in my left hip to my knee but nothing major. Event comments: I ran this race last year in 1:48:26 on 6 weeks training. I knew the course so it helped. I came in with a race plan of 3 sets of 4 miles in under 30 mins and it went perfectly. I ran the 1st 4 in 28 mins, the 2nd 4 in 29 mins and the last 4 in 30 mins. They had a great buffet for the racers with eggs, potatoes, muffins. Well run race.... Last updated: 2007-03-21 12:00 AM

Didn't sleep very well Friday Night. Woke up at 3am and ate 1 bagel with 1 bottle of water. Drove the 120 miles to Titan Stadium eating honey and drinking water every 50 miles.
After picking up my number and chip waited for the rest of the Crossville, TN runners to arrive. Felt good and strong so no prerace jog or stretch.
