yup. squish, spray, swat, whack, all fair game. of course i spent 4 years of my life doing this in the name of science. i worked as a biologist for syngenta crop protection doing research on new pesticide formulations. i spent two years as a staff entomologist, then someone with more letters behind their name took that over and i was in charge of growing and maintaining the trial lab. (pretty much a big farm) so i have litterally ended the life of millions of insects (insert evil laugh here) but at the same time i have also aided in developing safer, more environmentally friendly ag chemicals.

on a wierd note though, my wife is so creeped out by insects and spiders that she catches them under cups, and can't bring herself to kill them. a few days ago i got a call at 7:30 am while i was on the way to work telling me that there was a bug in the kitchen. at 6:00 pm when i returned home it was still there, crawling around under the cup waiting for me.

I win.  During a metric century last year, on a particularly hard hill, as I was gasping in foor sweet air, I sucked a bee into my throat.  My natural instinct was to swallow.  His was to sting.  me.  On the inside of my throat.  Yeah, it sucked, and thank god I'm not allergic

You didn't kill it, did you?!?!

I would eradicate ticks and earwigs off the face of this planet.

Wasps in my yard can all die.

Wasps, spiders, and flys in my house can all die. The rest will be nicely removed from my house.

Spiders, my wife and I keep.  They eat the other bugs so we don't have to kill them

Funny, we'll occasionally have a spider take up residence in our bathtub, and my wife will lift it out and send it on it's way before she fills it up.

I feel terrible when I kill an insect I guess being an environmental studies major in college taught me how important insects are.

I don't feel bad killing a mosquito. I've been tempted to kill bugs that give me the creeps: cockroaches, millipedes, centipedes, earwigs, etc...

imagine the crunch this guy would make if you stepped on him...

Kill?  Mostly yes, unless they themselves help me out by killing other bugs, or pollinating.  But the rules are different for inside and outside.

INSIDE:  Die.  By any means necessary.  Sorry, this is Houston.  It's war.

OUTSIDE:  mosquitos get swatted, slugs and snails poisoned with organic slug bait that won't hurt me when I eat my plants, grubs flicked into the middle of the street to be run over by cars.  Lovely, beautiful earthworms get celebrated, rejoiced over, and carefully ferried by hand to an area of the garden where I'm not working, so I don't accidentally hurt them.  Earthworms cut in two by a trowel are a tragedy.  Butterflies and honeybees are admired.  Still working on what to do with ants.

Bugs inside MUST die.  All of them.  But, especially, the spiders. I know spiders are good and all, eating all the other little critters - but I can't STAND them inside my house.  I go into a frenzy of swatting.

Outside?  Yeah, I can admire a web and even admire the spider.  Just don't ask me to share living space.

When I had a house - all wasp nests on the house were eradicated as soon as I found them.  Also, snails and slugs had to GO.  Most other little critters I was fine with, even to the point of trying to be eco-friendly and encourage the nice native insects in my yard.
