Do you feel bad about it ever?

I was reading this contraption in a Home Improvement Magazine.

***All it takes is sweetened juice as bait. Wasps enter through the top and can't figure out how to escape, then drown in the liquid***

Cruel and unusual punishment!

I don't kill them! Except mosquitos when they land on my skin - live by my blood, you die by my swat.

Hornets are beneficial pests. They eat termites.

I never apply poison to my yard - the snowy egrets eat the grubs and I don't want to poison the egrets.

Circle of life, Mark!

Sometimes I feel bad, esp if I killed it for no reason and it wasn't doing me any harm.

I *do* kill snails and slugs though.  With beer.  And happily, since they eat my plants and make me mad.

I don't use poisons, and I like ants (outside), and bees (again, OUTSIDE).  I try to discourage any bugs from coming inside.  Spiders don't last very long inside.  If I find them first, I scoop them up with a cup or piece of paper and drop them outside.  If not, Mr Bob gets them.  He loves spiders, and flies and anything else that moves.

I'm not wild about wasps or yellow jackets.  When we had a problem with yellow jackets in a previous house, I put out those drowning traps, and didn't think twice about it.  They didn't stay in their area of the yard, but came up on the deck and sometimes inside.

I do feel bad, and if I can, I will spare its life.  My SO on the other hand is terrified of all insects, so he always wants me to kill them on site.  Every spring/summer we get wasps building nests on our balcony...unfortunately, He is allergic, so they must die.

Do you use antimicrobial or antibacterial products?  Do you concern yourself over those when you kill them?

Bugs are people too!

Give me a break, the circle of life includes death all the time. I know the lion king tells us antelope don't mind when the lions eat them, but I think it was fictional.

Speaking of the Lion King...

I've had some excellent Mole sauce made with ground up bugs in southern Mexico.

Also chapulines, dried grasshoppers, that are sold everywhere in Oaxaca.

Anybody have any good insect recipes?

Of course I did. I had to get back to medical attention somehow, and the only way was riding back to civilization. It sucked...

I win.  During a metric century last year, on a particularly hard hill, as I was gasping in foor sweet air, I sucked a bee into my throat.  My natural instinct was to swallow.  His was to sting.  me.  On the inside of my throat.  Yeah, it sucked, and thank god I'm not allergic
