Pre-race routine:

Mom came over so my daughter Rachel had someone to watch the race with. Drove to the park and picked up shirt and race number. Met up with Dan (Morey1), Pete (PeterAK), Peggy (MaggieRuth) and my friend Andy. Rachel was the official photographer- pictures will be posted later today. It was great to hang with the BT crowd before the race.
Event warmup:

A few streches. It's a 13.1 mile run, so the first few miles are my warm up.
Run

Comments:

Started by myself and ran the first few miles faster than I intended. Met up with PeterAK and ran much of the race with him. We are both on the same journey, so it was nice to talk to someone who understands. We had fun yelling at the police and volunteers, high fiving the kids at the aid stations. At mile 5 the feet were wet from the light rain, and I could feel the bilster starting on the right foot. This really started to hurt about mile 9. Miles 10-13 were painful with the foot and the quads hurting. Just kept pushing to get it done.
What would you do differently?:

My goal was to run 2:10. Had the Garmin worked, and had I known how close I was to breaking 2:00, I might have been able to push it a little harder in the last few miles to break 2:00. I"m very satisfied with a 2:00:36
Post race
Warm down:

Hung out with daughter and the BT crew. Lost a $5 bet to PeterAK and paid him with a nice wind shirt. It was great to see all the BT'ers had great races.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My overall fitness, but I'm happy with my results.

Event comments:

nice small, local, cheap race. Overall, I had a great time, which is all that counts.

Performance:
I'd have this data if I would have hit the correct buttons on the Garmin. All I know is my average HR was less than Petes (I lost the bet).
Course: Flat out and back with only a few aid stations. Windy on the way back.

Hey - great race.  That's an awesome pace for that long of a distance - awesome!  We were discussing Pete's HR yesterday during the race.  My HR runs high but now I know to never get in a bet with him!  Again - super job!
