Racing on Tufo S3 Lite's (tire pressure range 115-220psi). First time using tubulars and unsure of what pressure to inflate to. Temperature is projected to be in the 90's (+/-). I weigh 185 lbs. and riding Cervelo P2K with additional X-Lab 2-bottle system.

Thanks!!!

Don't know a lot about those specific tires, but I've seen info tht says 115-125 is about right for most soft cased ties (which I'm guessing these are--100-110 is recommended for nylon cased tires).  Above that would be great on a track, but will actually give you lesser performance (decrease tire grip and increase rolling resistance) on most road surfaces.

I've used those tires a few times and we are the same, 185 lbs. I ran my front around 115 and my rear around 130. That seems to work well for me.

If you bump them up much higher than 140psi, it feels like they are bouncing up and backwards off of every little thing on the road. Great on a smooth and flat track, but not so great on the road.

Thanks for the reply. Still somewhat confused...I have been told 115-125, 115-135,170 & 200. I think I will have to get it dialed in when I get there. I'll have two short training rides before raceday and I'll get together with the local tech's to see what they would suggest based off experience and conditions.

Be safe & train hard!!!

How did you like them? My LBS gave them to me when I bought my wheels. They seem like they have had good reviews, but the tubular world is new to me. I'm going to try your suggestion on my training ride when I get there and see how it feels. Based off that, I will see what the local tech's suggest and I should be dialed in for Sunday.

Thanks for the input!!!

Be aware that there are some sections of the bike course where the pavement quality isn't great, very rough and bumpy.

And a note for all: be sure to consider temp changes when filling up your tires! If you crank them up to 115 or 120 race morning when it's 60-65, consider what it will be when you're out on the course and it's 85-90. Some physics or chem major needs to tell us what the change in pressure would be!

Since I'm using clinchers, I'll probably just pump mine up on Saturday afternoon when it's warm and leave them at that. As clinchers, they'll lose very little pressure over night.

So here are my toughts, you're on a stiff bike, the road there are crappy in places, getting bounced around while aero sucks. Stick to 115 to 125psi. Try it though, find a section of road that is a little rough ride with your tires around 120psi, then bump them up to 150 or so, I bet you let some air out.

I ride a Litespeed and have a bit more spring in the frame, but still ride tubs at 140 or below.

Thanks...I'll try it and see how it goes. Wouldn't mind having a Litespeed. I'm going to purchase a new frameset next and that is on my list.

You are on a nice frame set now, if you are looking for a new one make it fits better than your current one, you position is more areo on it and you make more power on it. Otherwise, I'm not sure why you'd change. Other than you can, and I completely understand that!

Bought it 3-4 yrs ago knowing that I would upgrade if I wanted to keep racing. Now I want something lighter and more aero w/ some upscaled components (better fit is a must, though).

Friday the 13th forcast is for a high of 80 degrees. Also remember that unless you plan on a slow bike you won't be biking during the hottest part of the day.

Look on the side of the tire. It will tell you about what the max pressure for the tire is. I live in AZ and ride my clinchers that take 120 at 110 when it is 100 degrees out.

Tire Pressure 115-220 is what is indicated on the tire.
