Oh my Lord! It looks as if Hurricane Frances will hit Central Florida at a category 5 on Saturday night/ Sunday morning! Two hurricanes in 3 weeks! I can't believe it...plywoods already gone..water's going out. I have no clue what we'll eat b/c Charley wiped out our food reserves (besides canned goods) and all of our frozen goods. The "projected path" will have Frances going right over Central Florida...and I'm less than a mile from the "recovery dumping grounds" so I guess I'm evacuating on Saturday! Hopefully the hurricane will turn...we haven't even finished the cleanup and repairs from Charley. Please keep FL in your prayers! Don't mean to vent...just still in utter shock that anothers gunning for us this soon! Is this a record?

Here we go again. They have been sending us (from Lakeland PD) to the area Charley hit for the past two weeks. Today they said they think they can handle it by themselves......now here comes Frances. We were lucky in Lakeland. There was damage, but nothing like there is just 20 miles east. I don't wish bad luck on anyone else...but central Florida has not gotten back on it's feet yet.

I'm praying for you guys too! I never like to see people get hurt by the forces of mother nature.

On the other hand, I'm hoping Frances swings a little more north and just hangs out at sea....she'll send great waves my way (I'm a surfer) and won't cause any damage...it'd be the best of both worlds.

Good Luck down there, Florida!

Hey trigurl123:

Greetings from what's left of Port Charlotte Florida... just an update based upon the 11 am projection looks like land fall at 5am in Stuart w/ anticipated sustained winds of 145 mi/hr and gust up to 185 mi/hr. The path takes the actual Hurricane directly at Orlando, once again. Tropical storm force winds are expected as far away as 180 miles from the eye wall.

Having just gone through a catagory 4, my advice is don't stick around. Your stuff is just stuff. Board up and head for...somewhere.

And to COP2TRI I just wanted to extend a thank you from all of the citizens in Charlotte county, we couldn't have gotten through this without the generosity and profesionalism of the recovery workers and law enforcement from throughout the U.S.

And again to anyone who reads this please, please donate to the American Red Cross Florida Hurricane relief fund!!!!

Trigurl 123 Good luck, I'll be praying for you. Stay safe, maybe I'll see you at Disney in September or the Boca Bop in October.

Good Luck to you down there.  Just spoke to my in-laws last night.  They are in Port St. Lucie.  My dumb-cheap father-in-law hasn't even boarded up his windows.  They put the jewelry in the bank, and any valueables in the trunk of the car--how's that for planning!!???  My mother-in-law said that if it gets reallly bad they'll go to the neighbors, who apparently have storm covers.  I can't believe they took care of the stuff and not themselves.  Now I'll be worrying about them until it's over.

Well it looks like Oviedo and Orlando will just barely miss the initial eye of the storm...only getting "hurricane force" winds...at least that's what I think...too many opinions from different stations! Thanks for everybody keeping us in ur prayers! I love this forum...it's been keeping me calm while everybody is going crazy w/ nervous energy! Take care everybody in Florida!

This is nothing in comparison to you guys whos homes and lives are being affect by this, but I'm supposed to go to Pensacola for a week on the beach tomorrow. I've been looking forward to it and planning it for a couple of months...now mother nature says I need to stay home and train.

Good luck!! Stay safe and dry.

Hey, Amy, hope you made it through OK. I don't know your situation - hope you didn't have to sit through it by yourself. We just got our power back on - and we are all weary of being inside for so many days waiting and listening to the wind howl. If ever we needed some motivation to resume training.....

Wonder if we'll have the upcoming races at Lake Lousia and in Clermont? I heard Lake County got it 2x now. And we have one more storm on the way!!

So, are our FL residents OK? I hope that your stuff and most importantly your selves are intact. I'm glad it didn't turn out as bad as predicted, but I know it was still devastating, especially considering the damage from Charley.

Hope to hear that you are all doing well.

Well here in Oviedo we fared quite well! We only got hit w/ the "feeder bands" (sp?) so there is only mild flooding in low line areas. I have no idea if any tri's are cancelled...I hope not! I hope everybody else in Florida did ok!
