Forgive me if this is an obvious question but how soon can I sign up for 2008 IMAZ?

I believe they go on sale Monday morning sometime.  But this IM doesn't sell out as fast as the others.

Ridiculous. I missed on IMLP 07 b/c I waited too long the day it started. It hindsiht I'm glad. A year in advance?!?!? Feel like I'm in the minority on BT but add it to the list of reasons IM has lost it's allure. No longer aspire to do one and don't think I ever will.

Careful. The lag has gotten shorter every year so if you're considering registering, I would plan on getting done as soon as it opens.

Are you sure registration opens tomorrow? I have heard that AZ registration opens a few weeks after the race because they have to meet regarding the course going through a portion of the indian reservation. I think Aaron told me that?

They just announced that registration for IMAZ 2008 begins tomorrow at 10 a.m. (I was also under the impression it wouldn't be the day after.)

I want to, but... I haven't actually done a HIM yet. Is it folly to sign up for an IM if I haven't done a HIM? I'm pretty sure I'll be plenty prepared for the HIM, but it's in September and I suspect that if I wait that long to sign up for an '08 IM, I'll find all of them full.

Not to hijack the thread or anything...

I have run one marathon and done 3 sprints. I am registered for my first OLY and first HIM this year. I will be signing up as soon as I can. Sure it would be nice to have completed my HIM but if the alternative is waiting to 2009 then I say go for it. It looks like it opens up on active.com at 10am also 2hrs 39m and counting.

Yes, exactly! I'm considering it, but I just realized how expensive it is. If I can come up with the entry fee, I think I'll sign up. Grad student budgets weren't designed to handle the kind of blow that an IM entry fee deals, so I might have to wait for another race or another year. We'll see.

Well, if you pick one that isn't an "M-Dot" race, you don't have to register a year in advance.

I know for the IM in Oklahoma City, the registration stayed open a good month or two before the event. But if you do register early... it's CHEAP. Closer to $300 versus the $500 for an M-Dot event.

I think my first IM might be something like this. Work out all the kinks before I go for the $500 race.
