I'll be there! Doing a test swim this Sunday out at 12 Mile Beach, and maybe a bike and/or run after. Eric, hit me up on PM if you want some details.

Bike course is short with only a couple of hills worth coming out of the saddle for. One portion, just after the airport, has a really good downhill where you can set a speed record! I think I hit somewhere around 38 or 39 mph last year! Screamed like a little girl the whole way! FUN!

I'll be there. I'm very excited. I've been riding on the bike course and running on a good bit of the run course after work. I've only done one OWS. I'm trying to decide if I should wear the wetsuit. I didn't seem to have much luck with it. I have a water ski/ wakeboard suit and it felt very restrictive. What do you all think?

I vote for no wetsuit. I did Langley last weekend. Water temp was 72. No issues with cold. I borrowed a wetsuit for Hickory Knob last year. I ended up really chaffed. The only reason I would even consider wearing a wetsuit for Clemson is if you are skittish about being kicked and swum over and might possibly freak out. This tri is very crowded and the swim can be brutal (especially at the turn buoys). The buoyancy of the suit is comforting. Know thyself and make the choice accordingly. See you there!

i raced Clemson without a wet-suit last year but will wear one this year. water temp last year was a bit cooler but not bad...i just think i'll gain a little speed with the added bouyancy. i'm a small person and the turbulent water makes it harder for me...i'm not quite as fast as Pam...i learned that at Paris Island! ;-)

I will most likely wear a wetsuit. But it is a game day decision. I like the idea of being a bit faster, and I do not tolerate the cold very good. Plus it's my first OWS, so I'm a bit nervous about that. I really don't want to get kicked. And my tri clothes are such that I'd probably have lots of drag in the water...

I'm slower than the fast people, but faster than the slow people, so I hope I'll find a bit of open water to enjoy.

Though I would love to draft off of PAM. LOL. Too bad I can't keep up with her...

Ha Ha! Y'all are so funny. Last year, I remember seriously considering grabbing a buoy and waiting for someone to come get me. But that was cuz I kept getting kicked in the face. Don't think a wetsuit will solve that problem. I need to get better at drafting!

I figure when I have to, I'll do a lot of front quadrant swimming, like the catch up drill. That way I always have an arm out to protect my face.

I'll see y'all there! And I can't wait to break a speed record on a downhill ride or get kicked in the face on the swim... So, what's the run portion like?

Well, normally, the run is slightly down hill, then up a killer hill (where you'd think it would be faster to walk than run) then across the dike and then back. But, I saw they changed the run course because the crew team was gonna be occupying part of that area. So now I don't know.

The hill going up Cherry Road is a killer too on the bike.  Quads burn baby burn.

It looks like the run will be going a little ways out perimeter rd which is another hill... but that's o.k.

It looks like there are about 55 people registered for the novice group. My plan is to hang back and take my time. With my speed (or lack there of) I'm more likely to get swam over than run up on someone.

Any of you all gonna be in the novice group?

DANG CREW PEOPLE TAKING OVER OUR DIKE!

We need to rise up and be heard! That's our Dike! Crew-schmooo!

Actually, I'm kinda' relieved that we don't have to face THAT hill. I think it IS faster to walk up that puppy than to run! Just my opinion...

Anybody know if I can stay at the Y Friday night in my tent? Twin Lakes does not open the gates to let campers out until 7am.
