Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:45. Ate a bagel with peanut butter and a banana. Packed up the car and drove to Glastonbury.
Event warmup:

Streched a little. Walked around. Waited in a very long port-a-potty line and talked to few people I knew.
Run
  • 26m 2s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Went well. Didn't go out too fast and kept a pretty steady pace.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster? Wait, I always want to be able to go faster. Hopefully that will come.
Transition 1
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

Went well. Took about a minute off my transition time from last year, which I think shows I'm finally getting the hang of this.
Bike
  • 1h 19m 56s
  • 18.6 miles
  • 13.96 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike hated me -- a lot. At about mile 2 my chain popped off and I had to stop and fix it. Not only did I loose time stopping on hill to put the chain back on, I also lost the use of my big gears. I'll be venturing to Pig Iron today trying to fix that. Then shortly after my chain mishap I saw Polly on the side of the road with a nasty flat (later learned she didn't finish which sucks). Little did I guess that at mile 11 my front tire would go flat. Luckily it was the front tire. I changed the flat but must have done a crappy job on the change and at mile 16-17 I got another. The tire as soft and not completely flat so I pumped some air into it and finished the course rather slowly on the soft tire.
What would you do differently?:

No mechanical failures. I should be able to rise significantly faster than this.
Transition 2
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

Chris was waiting at transition which was nice. Chatted with him for a second and then made my way out onto the run.
Run
  • 29m 46s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Went fine. Was a little tight for the first miel or two. Finished fairly strong and not as slowly as I thought I would.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Chris met me at the finish. Drank some water, walked around and chatted with Pam.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The bike! Grrrrrsssss.

Way to hang tough and deal with many bike issues..now those are behind you for the season right?

Nice pace running in both parts....your hard work is paying off.

Hope to see you at some races this summer.

Congrats!

Sorry to hear you had bike issues too . But that's awesome that you kept going and finished the race strong. Let's hope this was the last of our bad luck and things will go much better at Moose!
