Total Time = 6h 56m 39s
Overall Rank = 1679/2048
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 51/66
Pre-race routine:

Not much...woke up at 4:00 a.m. had some cereal with soy milk and a banana and took off to pick up Richard at his sister's apartment. He was 20 minutes late so I got really nervous about arriving late to the transition area. Good thing that we had had to check in our bikes the day before. Saw Bill and a couple of other HH.
Event warmup:

Some stretching
Swim
  • 49m 5s
  • 1931 meters
  • 02m 32s / 100 meters
Comments:

I ended up in the middle of the pack and had a hard time to move to the side so I was kicked a lot.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure I am in the back and on the side
Transition 1
  • 06m 42s
Comments:

As per usual, I took my sweet time. In my case, a minute here and a minute there does not really make a difference.
Bike
  • 3h 14m 25s
  • 56 miles
  • 17.28 mile/hr
Comments:

No one told me that there were going to be mountains (actually hills but it seemed like mountains to me) on this course. Wind was also strong at times. Could not wait to get off the bike!!! Course was pretty at times since it took us through a rural part of Orlando through orange groves.
What would you do differently?:

Train for hills.
Transition 2
  • 06m 20s
Comments:

See T1 comments. As I was running out of T2 realized I had forgotten to put sun tan lotion on so went back and did so.
Run
  • 2h 40m 8s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 12m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

Hot, Hot, Hot!!!! Very dissapointed with my run although I was expecting a slow one since I really had not had a chance to train due to my calf injury. I finished without stopping, for whatever it is worth. Stopped at all stations to drink/or eat. Took 3 salt tablets. Stopped for 5 mintues to help a guy who had collapsed.
What would you do differently?:

Train more
Post race
Warm down:

Stretching, ate some pizza

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training on the run

You did GOOD Iron Eagle.  It was a tough day out there.  Way tougher than I expected.  This course snuck up on MANY people.

Keep up the good work.  Rest a week or 2 and then get ready cause were hittiong it hard again for NYC

Congratulations G-lo. It was awesome to hang out and race together. We have a great training group and sherpas. Fernando kicked this weekend too.

Sorry we missed the champaign at our cabin. We'll make up for it in NY.

Great race and way to help out your fellow competitor!!

I'm trying to find the person who lied to us on that course profile.
