I feel your pain man. I was SO looking forward to that race too! Everyone had told me what a great course it's supposed to be, too. Any backup races planned?

Ditto - I would have PR'd and beaten all my time goals too.

Even without a race the triathletes showed their mettle. It was great to see everybody showing good attitude despite their disappointment. And it wasn't only the competitors, the way volunteers stayed around (in that non-stop rain) to help and get everybody on their way with bikes was a timely reminder of the great work volunteers do (I need to hurry up and take a turn). Most of the people I talked to were more disappointed for the race organizers than themselves. The preparations looked fantastic; it was just a darned shame about the rain.

I am looking for a back up Oly. All of my training was focussed on Cap Tex, so I feel totally up in the air just now. Like you I was going to use this to decide whether I could pursue a HIM in the Fall.

There is an Olympic Tri in Alexandria, La on June 10th that I am looking at. It is a bit of a trek (4.5h) but I will go if I can find somebody to share the drive.

They haven't made an official statement of why it was cancelled yet, but I think they were worried about all the water runoff making the bacterial count in the water too high (Town Lake ain't exactly the cleanest body of water to begin with).

Someone else at the race said something the current getting too strong, but who knows?
