Comments: Stuck with Michelle for the first 5 miles. We maintained a nice conversational pace at a little under 9 min/mile. I realized that my body really hates liquids of any kind because even 1/3 of a cup of water made my stomach hate me. Definitely going to need to work on that. At mile 5 Michelle was nice enough to let me charge on ahead and I ran about 8 min/mile pace for the last 1.2 miles. What would you do differently?: Definitely not had that water. It would have been fun to really kick it that last 1.2 miles, so maybe some more speedwork, but since that isn't my primary focus right now it will have to wait for another year. Post race
Warm down: What warm-down? ;) I did go to pilates at my gym on the way home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Wasn't trying to race? Haha that definitely limited the ability to perform faster. Event comments: This was fun! :) The history behind this race is that it is named the "Mini 10k" because it is named after the miniskirt and the original race had Playboy bunnies in attendance. Sadly there were no Playboy bunnies at the race this time. ;) I wish I had started doing these Central Park races prior to three weeks before leaving NYC- they are great! Plus, the company wasn't so bad either... Last updated: 2007-05-31 12:00 AM

Left my apartment and realized I was going to be late if I just walked (as planned), so I hailed a cab. I asked him to take me to 65th and 5th (on the East side) because I didn't know where I was going. I got out and called Michelle and realized I needed to be ACROSS the park- so I ran my warm-up ( guess) across the park where I met up with Michelle at baggage check-in.
