Total Time = 7h 04m 39s
Overall Rank = 264/288

Pre-race routine:

Get up at 2 am have a coffee and bagel . 2:30 leave house stopped for speeding 10 miles from home sign of things to come he gave me a warning . but it was a sign of how my day would go down hill. Met up with Pam. She drives to loves park . drive not bad. Arrive about 5:45 unload and sign up for race that day
Event warmup:

Not much time for warm up. Sign up transition then down to water.
Swim
  • 41m 8s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

started in back of pack. have not been swiming much wanted to take it easy.
some sea weed on course but easy to sight and stay on course line.
beach fenced in and they did not let you into water until shortly before start. not much time for warm up. this is a draw back but easily corrected
first year of race so a little bit of learning curve here.
What would you do differently?:

start closer to front of pack.
Transition 1
  • 05m 34s
Comments:

slow
What would you do differently?:

everthing much to slow can cut this time in half.
Bike
  • 2h 51m 9s
  • 56 miles
  • 19.63 mile/hr
Comments:

felt good on first half of out and back course . But on return trip began to feel bloated and sick. Stomach was not absorbing Fluids or solids . slowed down to try to lower heart rate. Stopped drinking fluids only water to rinse month and keep moist .
What would you do differently?:

work on nutrition intake more in training must get this down . I either eat to much on bike or to little then its Bonk .for Ironman distance this is critical
Transition 2
  • 05m 31s
Comments:

Very slow stomach bloated knew I was in trouble
What would you do differently?:

given my stomach problems not be sick would be a good start LOL
Run
  • 3h 21m 19s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 15m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

How do you spell disaster . that's all I can say about my run . was sick coming out of T 2 stomach was bloated
and not absorbing anything dehydrated . walked almost from the start only ran out of view of T 2 . wanted to get everything out of my stomach and start over but NO go . walk to first water station began drinking as much water as possible . Trying to force my self to get sick. Did not work walked the first 7 miles .Before I finally was able empty my stomach . began walking again trying to slowly intake some liquids.did not work . sick again about mile 9 . around mile 11 began to feel a little better. The only mile I ran was the last 1. that was more pride then anything did not want to walk across the finish line grade F
What would you do differently?:

Run
Post race
Warm down:

Not much race activities over and most food gone also. water was all my stomach could handle

What limited your ability to perform faster:

stomach issues

Event comments:

Happy with race, Course was good . room for improvements but this was first year and a little bit of a learning curve here . In very large park with much room for camping and family activities.A poor race on my part does not reflect on this race. I predict this will become a very popular race in the coming years and sell out early and often.

Wow, sorry to hear you had such a rough run.  Way to tough it out, though.  I agree with you about the race.  It's a very enticing setting.
