Swim
Comments: started at the back and inside of the group. It was a small wave maybe 20 - 25 people. Stayed with the pack for a little while it was nice being able to follow feet of the other swimmers. Made it to the first buoy faster than I expected made the turn and this is where things went bad. Goggles started to leak a little, didn't sight often enough and went off course. Ended up making a big left turn instead of going straight and probably added an extra 50 yards to my swim. Once I got myself back on course called a kayak over to clear my goggles and catch a quick breath. Hit the second buoy and was able to follow another pair of feet from the wave behind me for a little while. Felt good to finally see the ground coming into shore but probably stood up a little too soon. Overall this swim was alot better than my first time swam freestyle about 75% of the time vrs 30% at Napa. What would you do differently?: learn to swim straight get goggles that don't leak Transition 1
Comments: Pulled top off walking/running to bike. Helmet and shoes on went sockless for the bike again. went with gloves again but i think I'll ditch them for the next race What would you do differently?: learn to jump on bike with shoes clipped in ditch the gloves Bike
Comments: really pushed hard on this ride. took it fairly easy for the 1st mile and a half since there are speed bumps exiting the park. Once I got past the last speed bump I started to push the pace a little. Passed quite a few people while a few passed me. Drank a full aero bottle of powerbar endurance during the ride and took a gel with water at the turnaround. Did have some cramping issues in the calves during the ride. What would you do differently?: nothing fastest bike split to date :) Transition 2
Comments: went smooth garmin quick release worked perfectly What would you do differently?: learn the flying dismount Run
Comments: legs felt good off the bike despite the calf cramps coming in. Didn't have jello legs at all, the tri bike has really helped. Even though I felt slow I was going at a pretty good pace for me. Took a cup of water coming out of T2 and dumped it on my head. ou have to watch your footing on this course with all the loose rocks. Walked the aid station at the turn around took 1 water to drink and another to dump on my head which really helped. had to take a 35 sec walk break on one of the uphills but otherwise ran the entire way. Tried to start my kick earlier than usual but couldn't do it until I hit the grass and saw the finish line. Wasn't within striking distance of anyone though. What would you do differently?: start off a little slower and ease into the run Post race
Warm down: walked around drinking anything I could get my hands on. Looked around for other BT'ers but didn't find any. :( What limited your ability to perform faster: my weight leaky goggles swimming like a drunk not enough long bricks Last updated: 2007-05-12 12:00 AM
