Comments: Carried my 10oz Fuel Belt bottle with me on the run. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Sacrificed transition seconds to get my HRM working properly. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Thought I had my HRM working properly for the bike segment, but when I got home I discovered the HRM did not capture any of the bike segment data. :-( What would you do differently?: Nothing. I felt I rode HARD and tried to keep my pace @ 20 MPH. Results pace of 19.9 MPH is my best ever! Transition 2
Comments: Sacrificed transition seconds to get my HRM working properly. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: This segment was really tough for me because of the heat. My engine room was reporting to me that I was overheating and my HR was redlining. I kept ignoring a little voice that said stop running and walk for awhile and cool down, but I ignored it. I kept sipping fluids from my 10 oz Fuel Belt bottle and at the water stations, I poured water over my head and continued running at what I felt was a pretty slow pace. However, when the race results were posted, I discovered I had not been running that slowly after all. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Downed a bottle of event supplied cold water quickly. Found a shady spot under a tent and sat down. Drank a Hammer Recoverite as well. What limited your ability to perform faster: I was hot, very hot on the last 5K! Event comments: Very good race! First 5K, very good. Bike segment @ 19.9 MPH, a PR for me! and the last 5K, I was hampered by the heat. Last updated: 2007-05-26 12:00 AM

Usual breakfast @ 5:50 AM. 2 Eggo Waffles, 1 Boost. It worked well again. Race time 8:00 AM
Light stretching and massage before leaving for race. At event site, approx 15 min before race start, four short sprints, progressively faster each time.
Weather was threatening and a light rain was falling when I arrived at race site. However, by race time the weather had improved and was beginning to clear. It was already warm at the beginning of the race and was quite warm at the end of the race.
