Hi Folks.  Any chance this might be wetsuit legal?  I am guessing not, since it's so late in the year.  Does anyone remember from previous years if you could wear wetsuits?  Thanks!

(p.s. and if anyone starts to reply by saying I have plenty of time to work on my swimming, shouldn't rely on my wetsuit, or anything like that - please don't)

You know Emily, you have plenty of time to work on your swimming and.... ah nevermind.  It was wetsuit legal last year.  It was a fun race to do.  It's another Randy event so I don't think they are quite as strict about USAT rules.  I would venture a guess you will wear a wetsuit if you want to.

this will be my first triathlon! Im pumped and have been training all summer. I cannot wait to actually see the results.

BUT, I will not be supporting a wetsuit mainly because I dont want to buy one just for a one time use. And will the water really be that warm? I am not a cold water fan.

According to my fishfinder, Lake Minnetonka has been running at least 77 degrees. Lake Phalen should be a couple degrees warmer due to smaller size, so I would guess it will be nice and warm.

What are you talking about one time use?  Do you really think you will only do one triathlon?  If you have trained well for this one I have a feeling you will not be able to resist doing many, many more.  Good luck and let us know how it goes.

When I volunteered for this race two years ago, it was wetsuit legal. Since Bryan says it was last year too, I'm guessing you'll be fine.

I'm decided I'm too chicken to risk it.  I signed up for the St. Croix Valley tri on Sept 1st instead.   I may still come to cheer you guys on, though!

I love how this training is making me feel and how well I have progressed (escpecially in swimming) its cool going from doing 100m and having to stop to being able to swim 30minutes easily.

BUT, the training is taking a serious toll on my tennis playing, (i play in college) since I train after work instead of play. BUT, if this race is as fun as I think, I will probably find a way to manage my time to get em both in. Especially during school when I dont work 40hrs. heh

I'm in for this race! International Distance. It will be my first oly, and I'm super pumped. I did the sprint last year, and it was my first tri ever.

I am doing the Olympic distance also as my first of this distance. I would guess that it will be wetsuit legal. The only time you have to worry is when they have you fill in your USAT membership info, or charge you extra for the 1 day. Otherwise it is up to the race director, and I think most RD's would just have people feel comfortable in the water.

I'm keeping this one on my "maybe" list... will decide in the next week. I don't believe it is sold out so I still have time decide. I've heard it is a fun race.

Last year there were about 250-275 people total, including sprint and oly registrants. It's a nice, low-key event with a closed bike course, so that's a plus.

I talked to Randy this afternoon, and wetsuits are going to be allowed. I have volunteered my boat for use in the swim course. He is also looking for Volunteers to help with the event. He is willing to offer entries into future events for helping out with this event. So, if you don't have anything going on this Sunday, please help him out. Otherwise if you are a newbie, and want to see how to setup your transition, and how event is run, please consider helping out. His phone number is 651-653-7401.

Thanks,

Lance
