Comments: Great day at the Triple Bypass. Weather was brilliant this year. Other than one stretch, felt pretty good. A lot of folks kept passing me, but I saw most of them finishing after me, which makes me think they were riding really hard from rest stop to rest stop and spending a huge amount of time standing around recovering. Anyway, better than last year, so it was a success. What would you do differently?: Carried too much gear, but weather can change quickly and dramatically up there, so it was probably for the best. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Ate a burger and salad at the finish party and sat around watching riders come in. Then loaded up and caught the early (5p) bus back down to Evergreen. What limited your ability to perform faster: Mountains in the way. These really need to go if this ride is going to get any faster. Event comments: This just has to be one of the most amazing, beautiful, and challenging ides in America. The scenery can't be beat, and the 10,310' of climbing makes this a serious ride to contend with. The volunteers were wonderful, and there was plenty to eat and drink, although the water at Juniper Pass and in Loveland tasted like dirt again, and mixed with Accelerade it creates a potent cocktail that should only be handled by a Hazmat team. Alarm went off at 4:10, gathered gear, ate some Cheerios and headed off.
None. This ride is so long that warming up would seem a bit silly
