Comments: This event was there 2nd annual, so it's not real organized yet, but they're trying. It was funny to see most everyone take off like their hair was on fire at the start. I was near the front at the beginning and pulled into the lead after only the first 1/2 mile. After that people started dropping off the pace like flies. So, I settled into a comfortable pace and held it to the finish. There was this one kid who I found out is going into the 7th grade this year that came in 2nd OA! He was only a minute and ten seconds behind me at the finish! Impressive! He's gonna be real fast in a few years if he keeps at it. What would you do differently?: Need to do some speed work. Haven't done any this year and I know it will help my run times. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Drank water and watched most everyone finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Need to do some speed work. Event comments: I hope this race grows in size as the years go by. It's fun to be a part of local events near home. Last updated: 2007-07-18 12:00 AM

Got up at 7:30am and ate some watermelon and a Clif bar. Went over to race start and got registered. Spent about 20 minutes getting stretched out and warmed up.
Ran for about 5 or 10 minutes to get the legs going.
