Sunday's forecast does not include thunderstorms!  The rain has been crazy around here all month (pouring down as I type), but hopefully we'll be OK for this race.

I've signed up for one race already this year that was cancelled due to non-stop rain, and don't plan on a second one!

It has the possibilty of being a long day out there. I received the following email from the RD yesterday. She had this to say about the weather.
"Lots and Lots of rain has been happening here! We plan to hold the race as scheduled, however if there is imcliment weather we will first try to delay the start before cancelling. Plan B would be to just cancel the swim portion and sandwich the bike leg between two halves of the run(two 5k's instead of a 10k)...last resort would be to cancel the event. "

I think you're from the area, have you seen the lake? How does it look?

thanks

The lake is fine.  Water a bit warm.  It's been raining a lot, but not very windy.  The lake was real smooth last Saturday, even when raining.  I gather some of the run course is off-road, so will probably be soggy or muddy in places.

According to Accuweather, Sunday's forecast is:

Intermittent Clouds

High 91F Low 76F

It's been raining a lot in SA/Boerne area also.  Predicted thunderstorms for Friday and Saturday, so the course will be a bit soggy!

Will they close the lake for 'bacteria' run off? It is fed by Cibolo creek right?

Don't know, but it would probably be closed already if bacteria run-off were a problem.  It was open last weekend, and as far as I know it is still open for swimming today.

Sunday's forecast is a bit worse than before, but all should be OK as long as there is no early morning lightening!

Is anybody else dropping their bike off on Saturday?

I think I'm going to wait and just bring it on Sunday. I don't want it to get rained on all night long.

Sanford,
Subject: RE: Small Texan Triathlon
The Small Texan was my first Tri. I had a blast. The conditions wheren't great, I blew my front tire twice, launched my full water bottle out of my flatwing, and battled quad crampping on the run. But I had a blast and I finished. A mile into the run I didn't think I was going to make it. My quads were crampped into little balls of hate and I was trecking through the mud. My Mizuno's felt like they weighted 20 lbs.

I blew my first tire crossing an overramp on I-10. took the turn to sharp, almost ate it, but looked like I rolled the tire right off the rim. Instant flat. The second came about ten miles later on a uphill, just went flat, no bang, no hiss. One minute on air, then next on rim.

I finished in a slow 3 hours 30 minutes. No where to go but up!

Awesome time!
