Total Time = 1h 07m 12s
Overall Rank = 5/110
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 3/
Pre-race routine:

5:00 Awake and shower
5:30 On the Road
Eat cheerios
6:00 Coffee.
Event warmup:

Quick ride to check out the ascent out of the park
Swim
  • 14m 29s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 39s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt like a decent swim breathe every 4 strokes. Position didn't change all that much after exiting the water.
Transition 1
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

Felt very fast. Everything seemed to click.

Estimated transition times to be 0:40 seconds. T times were rolled into the run.
What would you do differently?:

Nada
Bike
  • 29m 34s
  • 11.2 miles
  • 22.73 mile/hr
Comments:

Took this a bit faster than I had planned.

Came into a turn down a hill near the golf course a bit too hot. Skidded the tire and fishtailed, but was able to make the corner. The volunteer was nowhere in sight until after I made the corner.
What would you do differently?:

Get back off the saddle and use the front brakes to slow down.
Transition 2
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

Again, I felt like I flew.

Estimated transition times to be 0:40 seconds. T times were rolled into the run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 21m 49s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

My last mile was by far the fastest. My second mile was by far the slowest. I don't know whether the second mile was long, or if I just went slower. HR data leads me to believe I could have pushed mile two a bit more.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

My run again plagues me! I will have to see how the taper helps in the next three races before I make any real assessments.

Event comments:

The volunteers need to be better prepared. One racer went the wrong way and was not corrected. I didn't see a person at a very critical corner until after I had dang near wiped out. Both of these problems can be chalked up to not knowing the course, but that is also what the traffic directors should help with.

Great Job! I was there but quite a few minutes behind you. I don't know if I'll do another race where vacation sports is the RD cause they are just TOO disorganized. Can't blame the volunteers though, Vac. sports needs to prep them better.

Nice race! Awesome job on recovering the bike. I would like to see what your heart rate did when your bike was fishtailing, can we say max heart rate? Looking forward to seeing you in Nevis.
