Got the pre-race e-mail lastnight, and it looks like we won't be cold on Sunday!

Hope everyone is ready to go out there and have a great time.  I'm looking forward to the race.

Have you done any of the routes? I hope you're refering to the bike and not the run. I hate hills on run courses!!

HAMMER the last 5 miles fosho!  That's my plan anyway since I already know my run will be sucky.

The course definitely has to be more than 15 miles judging by last year's times.  Bike time was close 47".  That's like 19.14 mph.  At 16 mi, it's more like 20.43 mph.  I thought for sure, the lead guys would be at be in the low 20s.

It's a different bike course from last year. At least it looks different from the map on the VTS site. I'm thinking it was around 18 last year.

Best of luck.

and HAMMER it all.

splash, HAMMER, jog

Re: bike course.  I was not there last year, but did race in 05.  The bike course that year went in the opposite direction.  Tracing this year's out on the map it looks to be right around 16, maybe a bit more.

I rode the course a couple times this week and my bike computer said about 15.5 miles both times.  Should I be worried about all the "No Swimming" signs all over the park?

No.  The lake isn't open for swimming.  The exception being by special permit (I don't know if they are actually called "special permits," but you get the point) that they obtain for these races.  Although, once you start swimming and aren't able to see your hand in front of your face, you might wonder why you are swimming in the lake.

P.S.  Looks like you are travelling a long way for this race!

My parents have a farm about 15 minutes away.  Yes, I planned the family vacation around a race.
