I'll start today's what everybody did for training. It is the coldest day of the year in Ontario today so I went to the Y. I did 30 min on the treadmill, easy 6 miles an hour. Then 30 min on the recumbant lifecycle and 30 min on the regular lifecycle. Then I ran around the track for 30 min and then swam for 45 min. The pool was packed so I swam slowly, didn't really kick. I focus on bring my arms all the way back in the recover stage of the stroke. I did the litte trick where you have your thumb hit you thigh to make sure it is going the full distance back.

Did a 2-10-2 sprint duathlon this a.m. The 3rd leg of this tri will be getting the kids to do their homework (tougher than the duathlon!), but they're in the home stretch and almost caught up!

Training, work, lack of sleep caught up all at once today so I'm resting. Looking through Backpacker magazine's 2004 gear reviews. Yay gear! Feels like I drank last night.

It is freezing cold here too, so I was off to the Y too. Swam 1400m - warmup, drills, 800m broken sets, cooldown. Leg weights as well. Phew!

I am looking into a new bike trainer, so that's exciting.

I ran 10 miles in 6F degree weather. Other than my exposed earlobe got cold, it was a comfortable condition. Snow wasn't slashy due to the cold weather - nice and firm. I successfully completed the 3rd week of 12-week-long half marathon training.

The next time I bitch and moan about a bad training session you guys all have permission to smack the crap out of me. I read numerous posts about the challenges of training while living in a climate with an average temperature of 7. I live in Sonoma CA, an hour north of San Francisco and today it's about 55 degrees, clear as a bell and stunningly gorgeous....so what did I do? I went to the Y to swim. What's funny is all of our weather reports are freaking out about this "COLD SNAP" we're having. I need to learn to take advantage more of the climate I live in and to quit cryballing when it dips below 60.

crpadiem: I'm a warm climate person as well. Remember that in April or May (at least for me), they're going to be bitching and moaning about 70 degrees being too hot and we'll be dealing with low to mid 90's! IT WAS COLD THIS MORNING!

Trimom: In the du I really paid close attention to holding back on the first run and bike, and my legs kind of do what they want anyway on the second run. Thanks for asking!

Freezing cold this morning, -25c, but got most of my long run in, 14km. It was so cold that my water bottle cap froze on and when I finally got it opened it was like eating ice pellets.

A Rest Day today -- it is soooo hard for me to do this! I feel lazy on these days, but I know it is the thing to do ---- right?---- Once I made the decision to take a rest day you couldn't pay me to do an exercise! I think is the law about someone who is in inaction will stay in the mode of inaction!! Or some such law.

Actually, now that the day is more than half over, I am feeling good about it and think I will feel more rested for tomorrow's start of a new workout week.

That was part of the problem - it was all sorts of rubbish including some bubbly as it was a stag do for a friend of mine! I wanted to take it easy but as I'm best man I was 'forced' to take the lead in several instances and i bowed to peer pressure - should know better by now....

started out on bike before going to Disney and my hands were so cold they were almost feeling numb when got up to speed. It wasn't that cold, but couldn't handle it. At noon time at Disney it was in the 70's! Oh well, family time was more important anyways! Turned out my legs were still sore and 6 hours of walking today was enough anyways.
