Subject: The Nation's Triathlon
One month to the Nation's! All the water reports look good. The swim is supposed to be FAST - downstream the whole way...gotta love that! SO - I hope everybody's training is going well. As a semi-local, I think I'll spearhead the start of picnic plans for any and all BTers interested for after the race. It was a nice way to end the day when several of us did this after Little Pepper in June and I thought it sounded like a possibility again. If not a picnic, a get-together in the area after race activities? Just throwing some feelers out there to see who'd be interested and what everybody's thoughts are on what they'd like to do.

Looking forward to meeting some BTers on race day!!!

:) OOO Tink

I'm signed up! I've never been to DC so I'm looking forward to the trip down. I'm from Michigan.

So... how bad is the Potomac really? Downstream is good.

Will you have a BT sign or something? How might I find you???

Lep,

Well, if we can pull this off, we'll set up some sort of meeting place to work from and do a potluck sort of thing. My husband (Lcsolutions) works in D.C., so he'll be able to scope it out for us.

The Potomac can get pretty nasty. They'll be testing it for mercury right up until raceday to make sure it's not too toxic for the swim. But, to be perfectly honest, I'll take it over a saltwater swim anyday. It's open water - never going to be Britta-Filtered, so it's just one of the tri-trials.

Michigan, huh? I'm a Wisconsinite by origin, myself. Long way to come for a race...really hope my little America's Hometown shows you some perfect race conditions.

Either way, I know we'll all have a great time! Looking forward to it!

Hi Tink,

You know that you can count me in for an after tri picnic. Of course, it all hinges on finishing.

Hey all,

I am up here on Temporary Duty from Atlanta and am going to race TNT as well.  I'd appreciate the opportunity to get together after the race with fellow BTers.  Would also appreciate any OWS training to prepare for this race too.  Please let me know if anyone is getting together.

Very little OW where I'm at. But, Tahoesteve and I talked about the possibility of doing the bike & run course before the race, at least in part. No specific plan as it just came up today, but I'll post here when there're details.

Welcome to the area and thank you for serving!

I'm game for some type of get together after the race.

If the prelim run/bike of the course works with my schedule I'll join for that too.

Great! I'll have my other half (Lcsolutions) check out the finish area sometime this week or next (he works in D.C.) and see what sort of thing will work. Nothing major...after Culpepper we had a picnic and some outdoor toys (football, frisbee, hula hoops, etc.) It sure beats having to drag our salty bodies back into a car for however long of a ride and grabbing Mickey D's and then there's the bonus of getting to put faces to all of these great BTers!

I'll also see what's on tap for a practice run of the course. I know we (Tahoesteve & I) were looking at a crack of dawn Saturday thing; i.e., before all the kids' sports as I have a couple with games.

Please check out the swim course on the TNT website and see if you think it appears insanely short. I went to www.mapmytri.com to compare and I got it measured at about 0.4 mile or 644 meters. I suppose it could just be me, but something really seems wrong with the map on the TNT site. I have been down there about five or six times and there is just no way that is 1500m.

Race fast, have fun, be safe!

Its not shown exactly to scale but the course will be exactly 1.5k. Thanks.

Hi all,

I'm coming from PA to race in The Nation's Triathlon (can't wait!!)

I have a question for the RD, but I can't find an email address, snail mail address, or phone number on their web-site. Does anyone know how I can contact them?

Thanks!

I'm afraid I sort of dropped the ball on this one...been a crazy month.

How about the awards tent/pavillion area. This is something we can rely on every race having.
