Yes, this will be my first Ironman.

I rode a portion of the course last year while I was in the area cheering on some friends competing. I was very glad to have the chance to grind up Richter(sp?) once before attempting it this year.

I'll be in town for the Oliver HIM which hopefully will be a good set up for IMC.

Always fun to meet fellow triathletes.

That is cool!  I am doing the Oliver 1/2 as well, we should get together for some beers before the race! I believe VanJ is coming up as well,  Do you know where you are staying?

I'll be staying with a friend of a friend right in Oliver, walking distance to the start/finish line.

I am looking forward to this as my buddy, who started training with me for Tri's from day one, will be there as well. He is currently moving to the States, and we haven't gone head to head in a race since our first Olympic distance tri 2 years ago.

We aren't very competitive with other people, more goal driven, but racing against each other is another matter.

I just hope it isn't as hot as it was last year, I heard so many horror stories from 2007 race.

Very impressive the down loadable broadcast of the 2007 race. It puts TSN's broadcast of IMC to shame.

Can we hold the beer off til after the race? First round is on me!

It looks like you are on track for IM, your training looks really good!  Looking forward to IM, we'll see you out there.

Thanks for your reply
I do have the utmost respect for the Ironman distance as it is the ultimate one day multisport event.
Not much of an athletic background but I cycled all my life and my IMC bike will be 28 years old :-) Started running in 2005, did a marathon in 2006. Started swimming in fall of 2006 and up to 3000m now

I enjoy endurance sports as a way to work out my heart and live an healthy life. I got caught in the excitement of watching NBC Ironman Hawaii 2005/6 and entered IMC for an once in a lifetime experience.
I'll enter a couple triathlons before Ironman Canada, just to get used to the transitions and swimming in a crowd, although the entrance fees are way too steep for me. Probably I will organize my own 1/2 IM in a local lake and rural road to experience the long day, nutrition etc.

Sounds like you've got a fairly good plan going so far. Nutrition is huge on such a long day. And remember that being in a "race" environment will change things a bit too. Keep us updated on your progress and I'll be cheering for you from the roadside this year!!
