Pre-race routine:

Not really in the race mood. Had a pbj bagel- diet coke- a little gatorade.
Weighed myself the night before to see if I could switch to Athena (you know- becasuse I like to win :)- only 149- oh well
Event warmup:

Ugh- nothing- a short run probaly would have helped though.
Run
  • 13m 8s
  • 2 miles
  • 06m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

OK run- I am really not used to running just 2 miles- so was kind of different to try to push hard- rather then find a comfortable pace. Started at the front of my wave and there was one other girl that was just in front of me the whole time.

What would you do differently?:

More speed work. This was OK.
Transition 1
  • 01m 2s
Comments:

Really not a very great transition- I mean all I had to do was change shoes and throw on my helmet. I dont feel like I screwed around with anything?
What would you do differently?:

?????
Bike
  • 1h 02m
  • 20.95 miles
  • 20.27 mile/hr
Comments:

I am really disappointed with this bike time. There is no reason I shouldnt have done 20 miles in an hour. Someone said they had 21 miles for the bike segment though?? Then 1:02 would be acceptable. There were a couple nice hills- but the downhills were sweet. I do have to say I have finally gotten comfortable on the bike- and I think I am way less of a chicken then I was even a month ago. I passed A LOT of people on the bike. I started in wave 15 so I guess that has something to do with it. Oh yeah- I KNEW jmwebs was in fornt of me I think he started 2 waves before me and it ws fun to know there was someone I knew uo there to catch (but I didnt- he was pretty fast!)
What would you do differently?:

I dont know- Im not the best climber and I think in a 20 mile bike I probaly could have stood and pounded up the hills rather then easy spin up. Need to do A LOT of hill work for next season.
Transition 2
  • 00m 53s
Comments:

Still not the best transition. What the heck am I doing in there??
What would you do differently?:

Well going faster would be a good start :)
Run
  • 14m 28s
  • 2 miles
  • 07m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

Well once I started running I realized I havent done any bricks since Pigman- oops. I felt like I wasnt moving a at all. Not much to say about a 2 mile run I guess.
What would you do differently?:

I think I probaly could have run harder- but really just didnt feel like it, 7:10 s were plenty fast for me :)
Post race
Warm down:

Nothin. Talked to the girl who passed me on the first run and then the bike and then the 2cnd run.... so I guess my T times were better than someones :)
5th in my AG, 18th overall women- pretty much the norm for me in a race like this

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not much speed work- I was pretty much endurance training most of the season

Event comments:

Wanted to finish under 1:30- so pretty close. Run times were pretty close to what I expected. This race was bigger then I thought it would be too. It was a good race- always more fun when I win something though:)

That's a hauling pace, both run and bike!  And a great avatar pic, by the way.
