I modified mine. I put a lid on it because the poofie would not keep water from sloshing out on the hills around here. I bought the PD mounting bracket and tossed the enclosed strap in favor of a ty-wrap as suggested by another bt'er. I also insulated mine with rubber foam and mylar. It looks a bit clunky with the tape covering, but I am going to improve that. I just wanted to see if insulation would keep my water cold, it does!

The shower poofy thing works great.  Just loop the string over the straw so when you are refilling you just pull it out and let it hang.  I had to trim the poofy to fit just right, but I did find a black one to match my bike, which as we all know is the most important thing.

Not that I've seen my bike much lately.

I use a poof as well...but I jam it in and never take it out....just pour the water right on top..

I've found that when squeezing a bottle into it that way works but when pouring from an open bottle into it it's easier if you take the poof out first.  Especially if you are moving at the time.  Of course, you may just be more coordinated than me (very likely).

when you're moving, you find it easier to remove the poofie altogether? Doesn't that take MORE Co-ordination?

Maybe you've hit upon it's real intended use: to mark the bumps on the course.

I thread a loop of dental floss or twine though the yellow poofie and put the straw through the loop. As long as the straw is in the bottle, the poofie can not come out. Works great.
