Pre-race routine:

Well, my husband conviced me to get up a little ealier then I had planned- he knows I am super with directions ;) But I got there with PLENTY of time (time to stand in the bathroom line- anyway). I was in wave 11 out of 13.... when am I going to learn to sign up for these things earlier? (Midwest sports events sends you out by when you register)
Oh- I passed a lot of cars on my way to GB- hoping that was a sign of good things to come!
Event warmup:

No warm up- stretched a little. Was looking to be a great day weatherwise.
Oh yeah- I heard them announce they were weighing all Clydes and Athenas... which I wasnt raceing but wondered if I could be- so I got weighed just for fun- 149.5- I know fatty :)
Run

Comments:

I believe this was a 3 mile run -not a 5K- unfortunatley- because it would be a 5K pr for me :) 3 mile pace was 7:15. This was hard- I really wondered why the hell Ido this because it ws not fun- it actually kind of hurt- ugh. The run is wheer I met "hairy legs windows vista man".... self explanatory I beleive. He was my pace booty- not much to llok at- but a smooth even pace for me. He thanked me for pushing him... hey my pleasure dude :) The run course was different this year too....someone put HILLS in it- can you believe it???
What would you do differently?:

Not much- pretty decent run for a dual.
Transition 1
  • 01m
Comments:

Well I had a long run to my bike- but a short run with my bike to the bike out. I had a great transition but a HORRIBLE- PATHETIC bike mount- almost embarrassing really- I stopped completely before getting on- couldnt get clipped in- so I just rode and still couldnt get in- WTF??? Hopefully no one I knew was watching me :)
What would you do differently?:

practice getting ON my bike- A freak like me would rather go run 10 miles then take 10 minutes and practice something important.... next year
Bike
  • 1h 34m 3s
  • 32 miles
  • 20.41 mile/hr
Comments:

Well on the results it says 20.9 mph :) So thats what Ill take.... so close to 21...imagine what I can do with some new wheels??? mmmmmm....
Anyway- was a nice course saw "hairy legs windows vista man" at the begining- I said- "are you gonnna be my bike buddy too???" He says "well it seems to be working out so far" then I dusted him and didnt see him til after the race... hee hee. I rode with lots of guys with nice legs and nice bikes- was fun. There was a nice headwind where I was averaging about 16.8- nice. The bike course was crowded, you almost couldnt help drafting at times- oh well. Oh and I lost my yellow thingy form my aerodrink- bound to happen sometime I guess. I like this distance.
What would you do differently?:

Sign up for the race earlier so I can go out in an earlier wave so the bike course isnt so packed???
Transition 2
  • 00m 56s
Comments:

Well my dismount was OK- could be better. I had a little trouble getting my foot in my shoe. Wanted to take my long sleeve shirt off- but didnt want to waste time for a 1 mile run.
What would you do differently?:

nothing really
Run

Comments:

I sure didnt feel like I was going this fast. Was up a hill around a block then back down to the finish line. You could cross under the Packer side or the Vicking side- was sort of amusing. Was really happy when Ilooked down and saw my watch. I had a bet with Spanks- he thought Id go 2:05 or under - I said NO way- 2:10 MAYBE. Whatever!!!
Last yera this run was 1.3 miles... 1 mile is sure easier :)
What would you do differently?:

run faster!! Next year sub 7:00s for my run :)
Post race
Warm down:

Got my race info sheet- saw I was 1st in my AG. Happy girl. Walked to transition- and checked my phome- I had three messages all saying..."well its 10:00 why arent you done yet???"

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing... Im not much faster then that

Event comments:

Good race- again.

Hey what about, "Quit drafting!" and "I'll remember you #540" and "I'll get you and your little dog too!"

Did you wear the new socks at least?

Another great race Tammy! Time to add another shelf to the trophy case.
So hairy leg man thought he could hang with you? Foolish man.

Nice RR...love how you get your motivation. Race wheels you'll be flying even more but I gotta say your engine is awesome and is key.

Congrats on hardware too!
