Pro  4206   Los Angeles, CA |  Subject: Pay it forward - Donate Your Old Gear to a Newbie (no requests pls)So, I was looking at a bike forum's classified section and they have a sticky (maybe we can also, if this takes off) there called "Pay it forward" based on the movie. Not only are they using it to promote the themes of the movie (giving something at no cost and maybe the goodwill will spread) but also to keep a central post so that people know where to go. I have seen several threads pop up here and there giving free stuff away and then several replies saying that I wished I knew to look or where to look. That thread also reminded me of when I just started triathlons, a fellow BT'er, ChrisM, gave me his polar heart rate monitor. All he said was to give it to someone else when you are done, which I then gave it to luv2flyjrn a bit later. What I'm saying is, I know there are many BT'ers who have things that really they don't care to part with and it may not be worth their time to sell it. It's just cluttering up their garage or closet. And there are also a bunch of BT'ers who are starting out, who don't have the funds to start this expensive sport. I'm not saying that to give everything away for free, but just if you have something laying around that you don't feel like selling, you can just give it to another BT'er who may need it. No use saying all this without starting it, so here it goes. I have a large Sugoi tri top. It's a Team Javelin tri top which I have never worn except to see if it fits. I also have a medium bike jersey by Canari. It's just a little too colorful for me. This is used but I washed it so it's clean. Since starting my Tri journey, I have lost 60 some pounds, and wondered what to do with some of my nearly stuff as well as some of the stuff I have upgraded from. Because of this, I will look for some things to pay forward. If still available I would love to receive the Tri top. And yes, I will pass it on when not needed. Thanks |

If it's too small, then you just post it again here. To give you some comparison, I am 5'10", about 165, and average torso also, and it was very snug. uonthebeach - 2007-10-07 5:34 PM I second the idea. I have a few tri-tops that I can also offer up, let me get pics and stuff. It is all about getting others to try a tri. |

Everyone, I got more stuff coming...not top of the line but still good enough to use. My wife and I are cleaning out the house and going into donation mode. We have been running into triathlon stuff here and there and I've asked her to put it aside for BT instead of the salvation army. |

I ran my first race in august and my second in September. I have not started purchasing any tri specific stuff as of yet, but am saving for a bike and running shoes. I love this sport! I have never participated in a sport where the participants are so giving and nice! |

I really think I found something inside myself this summer that is capable of greatness. But, I've never had a swim lesson- ever. And of course, a coach (even a mentor) is out of the question as I can not pay, and I live in rural Vermont, where the # of triathletes is low. I would GREATLY appreciat the freestyle CD. I have been looking at total immersion CD's, but just can't justify spending the money. PM sent! |

They really need a new home with someone who will use them. If you only need the top or bottom, I will split them up. Anyone interested? |

I would be able to meet someone for a free half-hour of technique coaching at the Whitewater Aquatic and Fitness Center on a Tuesday night. I know it's pretty specific in terms of day/place, but since I'm there anyway I thought I'd offer. |
