Pre-race routine:

Electrolyte water before leaving, banana in the car, double espresso gel before the race, shot of inhaler for preemptive strike.

Comments:

Tried to push it today after doing a 1/2 mary last weekend for the 1st time, since I had an idea of racing at this distance now, not just finishing.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Ok, maybe push it a little harder in the 2nd half, maybe.

Some walking and chatting and stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The usual: overweight & haven't been training long.

Event comments:

Fun race, especially for $10. Had low expectations but they had plenty of volunteers and the course was well-marked. Thought I was lost for a while because no one in front or in back, but I wasn't :) Nice to run on soft surface, even tho it makes for slower time.

You had a nice run today.  Very impressive after running a half mary last week!  I was bringing up the rear although I did come in ahead of the guy with the dog!  Didn't win any bread but had fun anyway!

I see you as top half and podium finisher. I'd love to run 8:30's on streets let alone tough trails.
