Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 6:30 or so, grabbed some oatmeal, and packed the family into the family vehicle. Got down to the race at about 7:15 and registered. The two great things about this race - pre and post race munchies, and an indoor area to hang out until the race started!!

Comments:

Oh man, it felt nice. Very easy and smooth. Hit the last mile mark, looked at my watch and I was at 14:22... just flying for me!

The only issue that I had was that I wasn't aware that the course wasn't closed to traffic, and I don't think many other people knew it either. Fortunatly, there wasn't much traffic, but I took the first corner onto a street, and was about half way out into the street, when it dawned on me that there were no cones. After that, we were running in packs, and just daring the cars to take us out... again, fortunatly, there weren't many cars, and they seemed to be pretty mellow.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, cheered for my wife and parents, and ate :)

Later on... ate :)

Nice race.  You bet me by 2 seconds! Nice job. I thought it was a fun little run--but had the same concerns about the traffic.

I see that you're training for the Napa Marathon.  I'm going to give it a whirl--it will be my first Marathon (hopefully).  Take care.

Nice Turkey Day run!  Hey, my sister lives in Walnut Creek, but she hasn't been doing any running for a few years so I doubt she was in the race.  I had to laugh at the fact you had to dodge the cars...sounds like an obstacle course instead of a running race!
