Extreme Veteran 390 | Subject: RE: 25 pounds in 25 weeks challenge... OK, who wants to be a captain? We need atleast two, maybe three, captains. If no one volunteers by weekend, I'll pick at random. I set it up for four teams. The 4th team is short a few but I'm guessing that we will get a few more challengees before the weeks over; if not, I'll transfer some people. If you have any specifics requests for teams, please let me know and we should be able to accomodate you. If you have checked all four pages/teams and don't find you name, we may have missed you so please let me know. |

At first I thought you were actaully 88#s and thought, "she can't do this challenge, she will die", I guess that kilos explains that 88. I'm an idiot.Just a quick question... do you need me to convert my starting weight to pounds or does it not matter? Nah - umm so it *2.2 ok for the conversion to pounds? I dont understand pounds at all! |

48 | Subject: RE: 25 pounds in 25 weeks challenge... If it's not too late, I'd like to join in on this challenge too! I weighed in at 150 lbs today. Somehow, over the holidays, I actually managed to lose 2 lbs! That's certainly a first for me! While I would love to lose 25 lbs in the next 25 weeks, I think that might be a bit unrealistic for me right now. So, I'd like my official goal to be 15 lbs in 25 weeks - putting me at 135 lbs. That would be fabulous. Thanks for organizing this Brian and TriMom! |

Extreme Veteran 390 | Subject: RE: 25 pounds in 25 weeks challenge... So, there are 50 participants. Never would have thought we'd get this turn out. We could lose more than a 1/2 ton with that many people. We have three voluntary team captains and one non-volunteered for the time being. There are alot of people that haven't weighed in yet. If you are having problems getting into the spreadsheet, please PMTriMom or myself. I tried to send e-mails or PMs to the newcomers so you can have access so the delay in cyberpace might be the delay. If there are unusual circumstances, I can input the numbers if you'd prefer for the time being. |

Extreme Veteran 390 | Subject: RE: 25 pounds in 25 weeks challenge... I'll be forwarding e-mails and PMs to the new comers before tomorrow. There is a chance that the four teams will break up into 5 or maybe 6 b/c at this point there are 13 and 12 persons to a team not counting the recent requests. I figure the smaller the team the more motivation we'll all have. |

If you're trying to keep the teams on the smaller side I think I can handle that. |

13 | Subject: RE: 25 pounds in 25 weeks challenge... Ladies, ladies, ladies we(I include myself in that) need to project a better self image. I hear myself in your emails and realize how damaging it is to both our self image as well as our ability to be successful in this challenge. We must except that we are not where we want to be but that together we can support each other to lose the weight. To really be healthy we need to approach this as a whole mind body transformation. I have had my 3rd girl in 4 years in Oct and am currently weighting in at my hightest weight ever, 205. I have always been active but 3 little ones and working part time it makes it difficult. I am tired of excuses and look forward to this challenge. I also realized that in order to raise 3 girls to be confident self-assured woman who feel good about themselves I need to start by being an example. So, who's with me? To the Cowboy fans the only thing I can say is that I hope Jessica Simpson comes to all the playoff games! GO EAGLES! |

Extreme Veteran 390 | Subject: RE: 25 pounds in 25 weeks challenge... I think the four teams will turn into six eventually so there will be captain slots opening. There have been two volunteers so far so they would fill in the remaining teams. We are considering how to operate the weekly thread. If anyone has ideas, lets put them out there... Do we want one mass thread each week or should we break it down into teams? Speak now or forever hold your peace. Bear in mind, 25 weeks is a long time; so we can experiment and change as we go. This challenge knows no bounds... BTW, I haven't had a beer in over 36 hours...can someone please get my medal. |

Extreme Veteran 1074 | Subject: RE: 25 pounds in 25 weeks challenge... OK, posted 189 starting weight on the Google spreadsheet. I think it saved automatically? Brian, I can captain a team if you need volunteers. I guess team threads would be nice, where we could all introduce our goals, prod each other, trade training and nutrition ideas and the like. Then keep this main thread for running totals and general stuff? 36 hours w/o a beer is good. I havent had a beer in years. Who knows how big I'd be if I were still drinking beer! |

MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: 25 pounds in 25 weeks challenge... I vote for team threads. I think 60 on one thread would be too hard to keep up with for 25 weeks. I like the idea of smaller teams that really get to know one another. |

Extreme Veteran 390 | Subject: RE: 25 pounds in 25 weeks challenge... OK, team threads it is. We will be spreading into 6 teams too. I'll try to rearrange the teams before tomorrow. Appreciate all the volunteered for captain. I'll fill in the spot on first come, first serve basis. For everyone new that posted on wanting to get in, don't sweat it, I'll input you over the next day. |

Veteran 230 Minnesota | Subject: RE: 25 pounds in 25 weeks challenge... I also vote for team threads. Much easier to read through. Maybe team captains can start a new thread each week so there are not so many pages to go through. Thanks again for starting this up. Everyone seems excited to be challenged. |

Extreme Veteran 390 | Subject: RE: 25 pounds in 25 weeks challenge... Captains are listed at the top of each team page. You (captains) might have to desginate a team name and you will be responsibly for getting all your team members weighed in each week, or atleast annoying them by PMing them. Lets keep this fun and motivate eachother, we all have the same goal. |

Expert 856 Pittsburgh | Subject: RE: 25 pounds in 25 weeks challenge... Good luck to you all! This is a great challenge! My goal last year was to lose 30 lbs in 30 weeks beginning on 1/1/07. By the time 30 weeks was up, I had lost 45 lbs! So you see it can definitely be done, so I thought I would chime in with a couple of things that I learned last year. - Stay consistent in your training! But if you miss a workout here or there, forget it and move on. Just don't let that become a habit. - Don't let losing weight be your only goal. Once you lose it and you have nothing else to aim for, you tend to pack it back on (as some people have noted in this thread). I've also done that twice in the past. The difference for me this time was my goal was to run my first triathlon. Once I set my sights on that, followed the training plans, and ate healthy, the weight had no choice but to drop off. - Don't slack off on your healthy lifestyle once the weight is gone! - I created a spreadsheet last year that showed my goal weight for each week that had the 1 lb/week drop. I started it on Monday, 1/1 at 210, then 1/8 showed 209, 1/15 was 208, etc. I then plotted my actual Monday morning weight against that each week. Although the full 30 week line was always there, seeing my next week's goal each week made it more manageable to me and made me believe I could do it. If I only knew my target was 180, that would have seemed too far off and difficult. - I used Monday's as my target each week. That's when I tend to weigh the most because of weekend debauchery! Knowing I had a weigh-in on Monday made me think twice before I ate or drank too much on the weekend. - Finally, have fun and enjoy the compliments when they start rolling in! |

Extreme Veteran 739 Westlake, OH | Subject: RE: 25 pounds in 25 weeks challenge... Great start to the new years guys and gals. We are already ahead of 90% of the world by joining this challenge. Hope its fun and successful for all Some housekeeping. 1. We need a team name. Well we don't really need a team name, but team 6 sounds so unimaginative. I'm not very creative, so I would love to hear from you guys. 2. You can post your weekly weight in the thread or PM me. I don't care. 3. LastCall, I need your starting weight. 4. For the images in the table below, I used your avatar for those who have them. If you want to use something different, send me a link for those who don't have an avatar, welcome to the 21st century Seriously, if you have a link to an image on the web, send it to me. 5. I think we voted(ok, it was low voter turn-out, not unlike the polls in the US) that each team would create separate threads. Once we decide on a team name, I'll use that in the title for the thread. 6. have fun!
