  • Comments: The race was well supported and it was good to see a lot of vendors at the even both before and after the race. Galveston is good race, but I don't know if I will ever be able to have a good event swimming in salt water. WE'll have to see.

  • Comments: Challenging course for me: current on the swim, hot winds on the bike; hated run course, too twisty and windy and with everyone on there at the same time and doing multiple laps it was crowded.

  • Comments: Another good Endorfun race. The post race food was hard to find, but there was plenty of it once I did. There were reports of tacks being thrown on the bike course and I did see a lot of flats and a few bad crashes, but I also saw lots of sag and medical support so that's good. No one can control the redneck idiots who throw tacks.

  • Comments: Good 70.3 race.....easy course compared to most (depending on the wind). This is a great race for first timers looking to move to the HIM distance....wet suit swim, fairly easy bike course, and lots of crowd support on the run. Definatly a course with lots of PR potential!

  • Comments: Remember to think about what to do before race while waiting for wave to start. Warmup/bathroom, etc. Overall, my greatest athletic performance and a HIM PR by 23 minutes once the bike flats are accounted for. PR swim and PR run. Held back a bit from my previous HIM bike pace to save something for the run, so although my bike was 8 minutes slower than my HIM bike PR (once flats were accounted for) my run was 33 minutes faster than that same race (a net 25 minute improvement!). Need to work on tire changing skills, especially with ZIPPS.

  • Comments: Didn't think this was as well run as last year (or before it became WTC). They ran out of ice on my second loop (!!!) and sponges. When you have waves starting 1:40 after the pros, you have to be prepared for the heat of the day. Also: if I have to run one more loop at Moody Gardens, I may kill myself.

  • Comments: My only complaint was that there was no real food when I finished except for potato chips, pretzels and bananas. The pizza was long gone by the time we got there due to our late wave start and my slowness. BUT, there was BEER! So I did have a few of those. Had to replenish my carbs, ya know?

  • Comments: Even though the wreck threw me for a loop, I had an amazing experience. It taught me that I could suffer, really suffer and still make it. I tend to doubt myself when it comes to training/racing but this race exposed that I have another reservoir within myself that has been barely tapped. The race itself was very organized and run well. Volunteers and support was stellar. The spectators cheering and the overall energy was absolutely contagious. The weekend was so much fun. I got to hangout with my amazing team. I've been w/TTT officially for 2 years now and I can't even begin to describe what an incredible team they are. Not only are they a freaking hoot to be around, the love and support from the team is tangible. From the messages from teamates not doing the race, to the ones on the race course giving encouragement, and to the troopers who woke up early and stayed until the bitter end to spectate/cheer. They were straight-up endurance cheer leaders! Huge shout outs to: Brandon,

  • Comments: Came in planning to beat my PR. I was really nervous about the swim and the wind on the bike going in. Overall, I am thrilled. A huge mental boost going into IM Texas.

  • Comments: One of the bummers after the race was in the vendor displays. After my wife finished her sprint on Saturday, she was able to go to a vendor that had some compression sleeves for her legs. She said the results were amazing and her legs didn't hurt after the race. I was hoping to do the same, but they had already packed up and left. I guess I went TOO slow on the run. :)

  • Comments: Pros...this race is well organized and there are tons of volunteers. Also I like the course. Cons...I do not understand how you run out of food for the competitors...you know how many people registered to race and you should plan to have that much post race food...of all things the food to me is the most important thing...when I finish a race I need the food and so do all the other athletes. Also, the swag is lacking...the fact got a shirt and some flyers in the bags and nothing else...plus the finishers hat was the had that we got in the bags laster year...they could have had finisher on them somewhere. All in all I enjoyed the race!

  • Comments: I don't post much but do lurk and read the race reports. I've always wondered about those who post about serious problems during an event as I never have really had any- that is until this one. Maybe I'm getting too old and my body does not like the heat anymore or maybe my nutrition was off but I've never had this type of debilitating cramping problem in any distance event I've ever done. If you'd have told me befoehand that it was going to be a 2 1/2 hour run split I'd have called you crazy. But it happened. Oh well. On the bright side I did enjoy the one slightly overweight african-american lady sitting in a chair on the run course out near the road near that one small dirt patch. She was in that chair all by herself the whole time cheering and "dancing"- offering encouragement. She certainly seemed to be enjoying herself!

  • Comments: Pros: Very organized, lots of great volunteers and fellow competitors. Great camraderie on the course. The shirt issue was resolved from last year...this season's registration specified men's or women's shirts, so I was not left with a useless shirt like last year. Medals are nice...in the shape of Texas. Much nicer than last year's hokie looking Cowboy Hat. Course is great...love the bike course having a lane closed off for extra safety and the entire road closed from the San Luis Pass into Brazoria County. Cons: Bike rack seemed to squeeze in a lot of bikes...don't recall being that tight last year. Post-race there was NO pizza and NO Gatorade at the food tent. All we had to choose from was potato chips, pretzels, and some fruit, plus Sierra Mist or water to drink. Even though I wasn't the fastest on the course, there should still be plenty of food available to accomodate all the racers. Considering there were at least 600 more people who finished behind me who found themselves in

  • Comments: Very organized race. I'd love to do this again with more preparation and a plan to stay at least 1 extra day, even 2 so I can enjoy the beach adn explore the town a bit. Perhaps next year!

  • Comments: This is a good race. It comes with the commercialism and hooplah that is Ironman, if you're into that kind of thing. I enjoy a race like this because I love the competition. I don't want to know where I stand locally, but where I stand regionally. So it's always fun to get my butt kicked by some of the top class in the area. And it's always fun to enjoy a weekend of racing with some friends.

  • Comments: That was the hardest thing I have ever done physically. I was so happy about my race coming out of T2 and felt like I had a good shot at a great finish. It's amazing how quickly things change. I knew the swim / bike times bought me plenty of time to get the race completed. I have never wanted anything so badly in my life. I retired a couple of times on that run course but ultimately decided to look at the positives from the race and know that I will figure this thing out one of these days and be very proud of my complete race. In the first year of triathlon I completed a HIM swim when I could barely get to the end of the pool when I started. My bike is pretty awesome and I am pretty happy with my stand alone run. When I finally put these together..look out! Holy cow the people that came to my race to cheer for me. Justin, Melissa, Chris and Stacy all showed up at the crack of dark. Always great to see my friend Justin on race day. By the time I finished I had 11 friends trying

  • Comments: Great organization. Some of the stuff listed in the guide was not correct... ex: orange gatorade on bike course (it was lemon lime) and there was no coke on run course (it was pepsi... and wasnt de-fizzed). Overall, great race though!

  • Comments: The is a great race for spectators and for heavy kids like myself. It would have been better, however, if the race volunteer didn't lose my 3 day old helmet. I also came in heavy due to a bad taper, so I'm going to work on that for next time.
