  • Comments: Overall the race was fantastic. The volunteers were spectacular, the setting was beautiful, the finish line was awesome. Based upon my lack of hill training, the course was too hard for me. Otherwise, I had a great time in Louisville.

  • Comments: Ironman Louisville is a great event in a wonderful city. I believe it was well done. I realize we lucked out with the weather. I hope my report is helpful for those considering doing this event. I know I read almost all of the race reports from the previous year leading into this year. It was helpful to get many perspectives. Personally, I'm happy to have completed Ironman number two, but I will take next year off from Ironman events. Good luck! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

  • Comments: Great race, great venue, great volunteers. And last but certainly not least, I want to thank SweetP and my boys from the bottom of my heart for all their help on my Ironman journey. Without them I could not have done this. I spent a lot of hours training instead of spending time with the family, and they never complained or made me feel guilty. Instead, they were always supportive and told me how proud they were that I was going to do the race.

  • Comments: I have worked on my run all year, starting in the fall of 2008 and I know it paid off. I was hoping for a PR at this race and it happened. I think the cooler temps helped too, but hey, an Ironman is an Ironman, right? :) Just take what the day brings.

  • Comments: IM #4 for me is in the books. We started the race with the goals to finish together and that's what we did. There were highs and lows of the day for all of us (well, maybe not for Heidi), but we worked together and pushed through. Pros: Doing an IM with 3 of your closest friends, scenic bike course, top notch volunteers, all of the perks that come with an IM Cons: Time trial swim start (not a fan), ran out of post-race pizza along with hats, run course was scenic, but boring. Louisville is a fun little town, but the next time I go back would be for the Kentucky Derby.

  • Comments: I think I've blathered on enough. I'll see how I feel in a few days/weeks and I may do Beach to Battleship or the Columbus Marathon. Oh yeah, My goal for this race was to go sub 14hours. Beating it by almost an hour feels pretty good.

  • Comments: Tough bike course, but we were blessed with great weather. Between the wind, hills and rough roads, I didn't eat or drink enough on the ride, leading to a loss of energy on the run. Once drained, I just couldn't digest enough to fuel the fire. I wound up losing about 15 pounds on the day, and probably should have gotten a bag of fluids from medical. It took a good 36 hours to get the kidneys working again, and almost 3 days later I'm still behind on fluids. But, at the end of the day, I'm an Ironman (x2) and pleased with the accomplishment. My only complaint would be about the expo - and particularly the lack of on-line gear available. The expo had a limited number of race-specific gear, and very early ran out of Mens' Large in everything. They had plenty of generic M-Dot trinkets, but little IM-Louisville choices, and nothing in a M-Large after Wednesday. Even the finishers gear ran low on Monday, and I see no way to order anything from the official Ironman web site

  • Comments: This was a top notch race. Amazing volunteers and plenty of aid stations on both the bike and run. The finish couldn't be at a better spot. Very nicely done.

  • Comments: First IM. Great course and experience for the rookie IM! Not knowing what to expect, I wanted a nice steady race rather than an all out effort. That was the plan...and it actually worked. I felt pretty good for just about the whole race. My goal was to finish, with a target of 14-hours, both of which happened. My wife and parents came to Louisville for the race. All three were impressed with the event, the volunteers, and the organization. By dad wore my BT shirt on race day, thinking it would make him easy to spot. He said he had about 25 people come up to him through out the day. He says his new nickname is "BT Guy". That made his day!

  • Comments: I wish there was more food to choose from after the race, but it was still okay. The volunteers made this day a truly special one for me. I really admire all they do to make it easier for us. I have never ever seen a race so well organized and staffed with friendly, helpful people. I will be back.

  • Comments: In hindsight this didn't even feel like a race for me. It was about managing my day, looking around, saying hi, and enjoying everything about the experience. I did't want to be too caught up in racing not to notice "stuff" and I accoplished my goals. Honestly, I wasn't even that tired after crossing the finish line. Next time, maybe i'll race :D

  • Comments: I PR'ed this race by 49 Minutes no complaints on that!! Post race food could have been better, they only had pizza. Things have been crazy leading up to this race...no job and a stress fracture! A huge thank you to Matt and my BT family for always reminding me to put my best foot forward. Your never-ending support means more to me than I can express. Ironman continues to amaze me. There is so much we can accomplish, it's mind over matter. Thank you for following my training, but we are not done yet....IMAZ in a few months...bring on The Suck!

  • Comments: I was elated to have pulled this off (with big help from many others, especially my wife Mary!). A BIG highlight was the support my Dad gave me. Both he and my Mom thought this was a silly/dangerous thing for me to be attempting. But his attitude was completely changed by the production put on by IM, the athletes and families we spoke with, and the army of volunteers working on the race. He was even joking positively about doing an IM himself. Never say never Dad!

  • Comments: This was our first Ironman. We have done Ironman half distance races, but this one was far superior in every aspect. It was an excellent experience, and I can't imagine a better race to become an Ironman for the first time. If I ever do another Ironman, I would definitely consider Louisville. The race organizers, the people of Louisville, and the thousands of volunteers were tremendous.

  • Comments: Very good venue and great volunteers. I had high and unrealistic hopes after 11:02 IMFL last November. I really thought I could do 10:30s. I was quite a bit more fit (bike especially), and executed well (no real mistakes with pacing/nutrition/hydration). But swim and bike course here were just that much tougher. And maybe it just wasn't an "on" day for me, bike especially. But I'm still proud of the results. Respectable run, respectable overall time.

  • Comments: One thing I wanted to say is that the Ironman staff and volunteers were great. When my group went to get the gear my bike to run bag was gone. The number next to me took it by mistake. They took our phone number and assured us that they would get it to me. About 20 minutes later they called because the other guy realized his mistake and returned it. For my first I have nothing to compare it to but the Louisville Ironman was fantastic. Now I just need to get over the post race depression. I think I will by signing up for Wisconsin 2010!
