  • Comments: First year, race obviously needs a little work. The run course was a mess, but the swim and bike were perfect. Overall this is a wonderful race that can only get better. There wasn't really any post race refreshment - water, gatorade, bagels...that was a bummer also. It was my first Olympic distance race, so I don't have much to compare it to, but I had fun and it was challenging.

  • Comments: This is the first year of this race. It has a lot of potential! The organizers should really use mile markers next year. Also, having two widely separated transition areas was tough for spectators.

  • Comments: The start of the run course was not ideal, but I don't think there was much the organizers could do. There hands were tied. Two transition sites was awkward and bag/stuff pickup afterwards could have been handled a bit better. However, this was one of the best races I've competed in. I actually expected much more chaos for an inaugural event, but they pulled it off smoothly! I definitely want to go back for this one next year.

  • Comments: Fantastic course, well organized and supported. The T1 bag pickup was a mess, but thankfully I was able to find mine without too much trouble. CTA really pulled off what seemed to be a difficult race to organize. This will definitely be on the schedule again next year.

  • Comments: This was a great race. I know it was tough to put on a race in such a congested area. I have never seen so many volunteers at a race. It was truly amazing how many people were there to help out. My only complaint about the race was the multiple tranition areas. I thought it caused extra stress on race morning. I know what to expect in the furture so maybe it will not be so bad. Also, there needed to be more bathrooms at the city dock. Besides that great race, great venue and great people volunteering.

  • Comments: Great volunteers: helpful, easy to spot, informed. Bike Doctor guys were lifesaver. The two-transition set up was a bit of a mess...but it all worked out. I need to replace my pedals in less than two weeks for the next race in Washington. The bike course had some hills that "snuck" up on me, but I liked them. Army, Navy and Air Force cadets/midshipmen were very polite and very impressive competitors. Overall, I was 397 among 872 men and 478 overall.

  • Comments: Really pissed it wasn't a standard 1.5k/40k/10k race as originally advertised. The 2 transition area is a pain, but not a big deal. There was no shade for post-race activities, and a cheap, not great selection of post-race food. Award Ceremony started an hour late, and it was really hot! But my young guy crush Tommy Brown was the overall winner, so I stayed to watch him get his trophy! Here's to Mrs. Robinson!

  • Comments: These guys are on the ball. There were cops and volunteers all over the course. This race should become a classic. It's kind of a pain with 2 transitions and the fact that you have to be there the day before, but they really put on a good event. Great venue, great volunteers, really nice course. Definitely be back for this one.

  • Comments: One of the best races EVER period. Tricolumbia and Vigo always do an OUTSTANDING job. My only gripe was I had to wait for my T1 bag for 30 minutes. But considering the traffic and some of the slower athletes that they had to wait to get out of T1 to transport the bags I understand.

  • Comments: Setting things up on Saturday was a little confusing. I don't have too much experience with triathlons and the double transition zone thing was a bit confusing to me. I was worried that things were going to be equally as confusing on Sunday but they weren't. The event on Sunday was almost perfectly run. The course was great, the volunteers were great and the police were great. Mile markers would have been nice though. I can't help but think that I should have been able to have a 2:15 on this course. With simply an average swim and a better run this would have been possible. I know I can run a sub-40 on a course like this but it just didn't work out that way. I also need some work on the swim/bike transition. I have such an uneasy feeling coming out of the water that it takes me a while on the bike to shake it.

  • Comments: This was the inaugural for the event but because the Columbia Tri Assoc. was running it, it was exceptionally organized with tons of volunteers and was a fantastic race. I hope they get the approvals to continue doing it as I will definitely sign up again! But racewise, here's the thing that kills me. I had the 2nd fastest bike split in my Age Group and even with a sub-par run I was 5th in the Age Group for that!! I lost 2-1/2 - 3 minutes in transitions to the top of the AG and around 4 minutes or so on the swim. And even with half of that time back and if my run had been up to my standard I would easily have broken 2:10 and been top 5 in the AG. So I am slightly disappointed overall even though I went under my realistic goal of 2:20. But I killed the bike, which is where I have my fun!! ;-)

  • Comments: I had much trepidation heading into this race - two transitions, the bike and run courses were being changed almost weekly. I have to hand it to CTA, from a racer's standpoint, they pulled it off very well. From the viewpoint of Naptown motorists? Not so much. My only beefs were with the run course and the way gear dropoff was handled at the stadium. There was no security at the bag pickup and bags were strewn all over the place by the time Dave got his. Overall I enjoyed the race. We'll see if they can pull it off again.
