  • Comments: This race wasn't for me to go fast in, or even to re-orient me back into racing. It was more of a sanity thing. Since my shoulder surgery last March and the unexpected problems that went along with it, my morale has gone by the wayside. I needed this. And I couldn't be happier with the result.

  • Comments: Once I crossed the finished line and realized that I did only a few minutes over my original goal of 1hr 45min, and less than the new goal I made while I was running of 2hr, I felt pretty happy. I did enjoy my experience. And it was a huge learning curve for me. Not only do I have some physical things to work on, I realize I also have to work on my mental strategy too. The race was run very well. All of the organizers and volunteers were so nice and supportive. I never realized how far just a few encouraging comments can go in helping me push just a little harder.

  • Comments: A well run race with nice volunteers and a fun group of people. I got lots of encouragement on the course from the fast bikers, and I gave back to the (very few) people I passed on the bike and run. That's one thing I like about Triathlon; even though people are there to go fast and do well in their age group, everyone is supportive and friendly to one another.

  • Comments: boy scouts at water station were terrible. They were playing and splashing instead of handing out water. T-shirts too small. Award ceremony too long.

  • Comments: So, even though I was DFL, there were only 2 Athenas, so I won a medal...again! How crazy is that! The race officals were so amazing and so nice, I just can't say enough nice things about them. I had some serious anxiety going into this race, about my self and wether or not I was "worthy". It seemed like it was one thing to finish one, but to finish 2 was a whole different thing. I slayed some demons today and that is always a good thing! I think that the biggest accomplishment for me, this race, is my friend Jan. When I asked her about doing a tri she lasughed and said no way. Then I told her about the "non-Ironman" distances, and that I was doing a sprint. She started swimming and joined the Master's program that I'm in, she now has done her first tri, and is planning to get a road bike so she can start training for her next...now that's what I'm talking about!! That's a good day...
