  • Comments: The swim was very well marked (buoy every 100 mtr or so) The bike course was 80-85% closed to traffic and the hills were all manageable (it’s Florida) and the wind just upped the bar slightly. Lots of police watching intersections. All the aid stations on the run were great. All the volunteers were cheering us on even late. They changed the run so that it has less off road, which was a plus. Really it was a great run course. (Thanks to TriRsquared for this template).

  • Comments: Not the races fault that it didn't start on time. There was a good amount of rain and lightning in the area at the original start time. I would do this race again if I lived closer and am able to train in warmer climates, but living in Chicago I learned to look for a HIM distance race that is held at a much later date!

  • Comments: What a well run event. Volunteers were amazing and wish I felt better on the course to thank them in person. There are a few hitches to this event, but the venue is great for making this a family trip. One area they can do much better job on is post-race food. I have had much better at local sprint races and 5k's. I do not know if two days of walking around parks can be called active recovery, but I am glad to be home from this trip.

  • Comments: This was a fun race. I LOVED the organization, the venue, the voluteers, etc. It's worth saying that I LOATHE Disney and likely won't do this one again simply because if one more person told me to have a Magical Day I was going to punch them in the throat, but Ironman puts on a heck of an event.

  • Comments: I wish the race was going to continue so its a bummer it was the last year here. I enjoyed the race, the challenge, and being a part of it. My realistic goal was sub-5:15 with potential sub-5:10, so how can I be anything less than excited beyone belief to finish my first HIM in 5:08? So I didn't qualify for Vegas in my first HIM, I kicked ass anyway. A quick shout of gratitude to my wife for her support and patience, my coach for a great training plan and guidance that helped me exceed my expectations, and my friends and family who have supported me with their thoughts and encouragement!

  • Comments: Its an ok race, the course is good minus the xterra run. Food was very simple, slice of pizza that is it.

  • Comments: The volunteers and organizers could not have been better. Kudos to all! They worked through rain and lightening in the morning, and offered good grace and uplifting spirits throughout the race - especially the run. They were in costume, great humor, and totally supportive. I thanked as many as I could, and wish I could have done more. They made the race great. Photo is me with Sara McClarty at Lucky's after a friday morning swim. She beat me.

  • Comments: The food at the end of this event sucks. Cold pizza is not something I would like to have after a HIM. More fuit and better food would push the race above avg.

  • Comments: I did my first tri 6 weeks ago, so going from a sprint to HIM in this amount of time was a big goal and I was very pleased to achieve it. I never expect everything to go as planned and there certainly were a lot of learning opportunities on this journey. Can't wait to improve and do it all over again.

  • Comments: As others have said, they need to seriously evaluate this run course. I'll do the race again because I don't want it to get the best of me, and with the number of qualifying slots here versus other 70.3 races, this is definitely the best place to qualify, so I'll be getting dirty and hot next year as well.

  • Comments: Considering this is the first 1/2 I've done, I'm going to say i'm happy with the race.. just not my performance IN the race.. was hoping to have an OLY or two under my belt before this but alas this is the way the schedule worked out.. The volunteers were AMAZING, i'm always in awe of all that they do.. Race was very well organized, just some nit picky things that I don't need to make a deal out of. I've told my wife that I HAVE to do this race again next year, I need to be sub 6.. if not closer to 5:3x... I WILL do that.. overall a great experience.. thinking about Augusta, just trying to figure if it's the right choice starting a new job here in a couple of weeks as i'm not sure of the impact on my training.. We shall see! Derek

  • Comments: Would have given it a 5 if not for the run. I met some great people and enjoyed the week leading up to the race. I wish my wife could have been there but we made the right decision by staying with our daughter. Had I known the college graduation would have been the same weekend as the race I would have chosen another race to do. I will be back to do this next year and have a mission to do what I know I was capable of.

  • Comments: Very good race. I very pleased with my results. Some races test the fourth discipline of triathlon, nutrition/hydration. And this one tested your hydration plan.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed the race overall, I was having a great time in the swim and bike. Obviously, I knew the run was going to be a challenge and it was. The way I finished was clearly unexpected and scary, but I did it and beat the hell out of my goal (6:30)!! I will chalk this up to a very important learning experience. • Comments: The race was great. A lot of people will complain about the run, but due to the location I think they have managed to create a decent course for what they are working with. The volunteers helped out big time! For me, this represented a lot more than just a Half Ironman. Almost 2 years ago I underwent reconstructive surgery on my right hip, which effectively ended my college career after my freshman season... I got into the sport as a way to try and drop some of the extra mass as well as stay competitive. I set the goal of finishing a half ironman before I graduated and I soon found myself wanting to go the full distance! This was a step in the right direction, and definitely added fuel to the fire to one day try the real thing! The thoughts of the last 2 years hit me the last half mile and it finally became real.. It was great to have my support crew there and get to share it with them! My goal entering the race was to break 7:30:00 and I was able to go WAY lower! I'm falling in love

  • Comments: Shuttle buses at the end of the day stink for the spectators. Volunteers did a great job. Where's my finisher's hat? I wanted and article of clothing that said "finisher" and they didn't have any that I saw. That was disappointing. Miami 70.3 is next. Can't wait!!!!

  • Comments: Logisitcs were pretty good in my book. Shuttle system worked great in the days leading to the race. (of course, there was crazy wait time after the race ended, and decided to limp back to the parking lot rather than wait). Aid stations during race were perfectly spaced for me (did not need any during bike anyway since I am self sufficient) and the aid stations at every mile were a MUST in these crazy conditions. Thanks for kiddie pools filled with ice. Post race food was the worst I've seen, but that was my first M-DOT event. No other choices than pizza. Overall, organization was good, but I would have liked a run course with a bit more shade.

  • Comments: It's a very well organized race, and volunteers were (as usual) outstanding. They worked their tails off to keep us going in that heat. Would be great if the race organizers could do anything to alter the run course to allow some relief from the heat and the rutted out grass trails, but I'm sure there's a good reason they use that course or they would have changed it already since NOBODY likes it. Other than that, I had a great time. Congrats to everyone that finished this race. That was a tough run for sure. Saw some people on the run course in pretty bad shape and I hope they all recovered well. Think my next long course race might be in cooler climate just to see what I can actually do on the run without battling overheating.
