  • Comments: 1. My 3rd straight year so I love the venue. 2. Check in was well organized this year vs. last year. 3. Swim and Bike were great. The drink stations should be 1 mile apart on the run course due to the heat and humidity in the South in September. The second station was 1.75 miles from the 1st one on the run per my Garmin and it was at 13.1 when I finished so I'd say it was right. 4. Overall, well orgainzed and I simply the venue and the town of Augusta. Thanks to the Army for helping out!! 5. I plan to go back next year as a warm up to IMFL.

  • Comments: This was my first IM and only my second triathlon. I did an Olympic distance the month before this race. I was super excited that I finished and all the folks on the race were just great (I got to see almost everyone as they passed me on the ride and have grown to dislike the phrase "on your left" very much). There was one protester holding a sign and saying go home and I was amazed he felt that strongly to stand out front and do that on a Sunday morning. His neighbors made up for him and all the folks who took the time to get out and cheer were super. Getting there, going through registration, and setting up were all over whelming at times. There were more fit people than I have ever seen, they all looked like they knew what they were doing, and were all fitter than me. On race morning I settled down and became resigned to finish. I had a great time and was real glad I was able to bring my dad with me (he missed the start and finish) and I enjoyed spending the time before and after the

  • Comments: must've struck my ankle funny on the run, was bruised and swollen the remainder of the day as well as the next. Swelling has since gone down and have had it checked out, tendonitis is the issue.. not sure why, but taking it easy because of it for now. Race goal was a 5:45 as my previous best was a 5:56 so a 5:33 was a good time for me.. Frustrating thing is if I would've kept my pace my run would've put me in a low 5:20 or high 5:teen which I would've been stoked about. We'll see where we set the goals for next year. I've got a low 5 in me, i know it..

  • Comments: Very happy with the race. The post race activities were somewhat of a let down. I have had better post-race at a sprint series. Pizza, cookies, pretzels was somewhat a limited selection. But that is me. All in all the volunteers made the race, especially the aid station on the back of the course near Transition. They were awesome, and hooting and hollering, and the guy in the costume in that heat was my hero.

  • Comments: Despite falling apart in the run, this was my first 70.3 and I enjoyed the day thoroughly. As my new pre-race friend shared with me, we are so fortunate to GET to do this sport. I kept that in mind throughout the race. After thinking things through for the past few days, I confirmed that I am no where near ready to take on a full ironman. It has been a goal for a few years, but will eventually work may way up to it. (Maybe 2 - 3 years)

  • Comments: The only comment I had about the end was there was quite a line to get food and the offerings seemed kind of limited to me compared to other races I have experienced. There were potato chips, oranges and pizza. My stomach wasn't feeling any of that at the time. I really just wanted a plain bagel and there were none to be found. Any other time, I would have been all over the pizza so it could ahve just been the way I was feeling at the time.

  • Comments: I'm giving the race a four because there are a few things to improve on. But overall for my first 70.3 race it is good race. I would recommend this to other first timers to this distance. Plenty of volunteers on the course along with some police and military help at all intersections on the bike. The run sets up well for runners because it is a flat, and the spectators are awesome..

  • Comments: Overall a very nice race. Good organization, great swim, OK bike and a nice run. And hey, Mike Reilly was the announcer! I don't like having to go get the bikes after the race but what can you do? I'd go back.

  • Comments: This is a great race. For a first HIM for sure. So much fun. Everything is just right. If you climb no hills the bike is a little hilly. If you ride some hills it's just normal. If you climb any substantial hills, you'll call it flat. I will definitely be back at this one for years to come.

  • Comments: This was an amazing event for my first HIM. It was well run and well organized. The course was easy to follow and had tons of volunteers and community support. I would recommend it to everyone for a first HIM. I crushed my time goal and enjoyed the challenge of a new distance!

  • Comments: This is an amazing course. Great for a first time 70.3. Challenging but fair and nothing ridiculous. I was hoping for anything under 6:00:00 so going 5:40 was a solid day for me.

  • Comments: The only complaints I can make about this race (and the only thing keeping it from a 5 imo) is the aid station setup. On the bike I felt like 1 more would have made it a ton easier on somebody like me who only really carries one replacable bottle. (I didn't miss any handups, but if I had I would have been in very real trouble) On the run the aid stations were a bit uneven. You would run a quarter of a mile from one aid station to the next, but then there wouldn't be another station for over a mile. I think on 1/2 and full marathons having one evenly every mile really helps break up the pain. Nonetheless, it was a great race, well marked (and blocked off) course and very well staffed/supported.
