  • Comments: This was my first triathlon back in over 8 years. A friend of mine wanted to do this and I agreed to do it with him. I have only been training for less than three months, but I was happy I decided to get back into it. It's bitter sweet, because I worked so hard back in 2006 to get to where I was, and slowly began letting that slip back away from 2008 on. Between that time, I have put on over 45 pounds! My training for this has helped me loose over 20 of those pounds and I already feel so much better about myself and proud that I came back to the sport. It also gives me great motivation to maintain this training and prepare for my real come back in the spring of next year! The course itself was good. It was somewhat of a new thing for me as I have never really raced with elevation gain. I adapted well to the hills on the bike and the long run course hill. I managed to pace myself perfectly so that I had enough gas in the tank for the run. I even surprised myself on the run with my run

  • Comments: This is a well run race that is organized and on time. Great for first timers as everyone is understanding. The post race food is weaker than most but overall a great experience. Was pretty happy with this result - about 1:30 off my goal but 8 minutes better than last year's result.

  • Comments: Standard Piranha event, went off without any apparent hitch. Post-race food was pretty blah: hoagies, baked potato chips, and granola bars. No bananas, no bagels, no pretzels...kind of surprising; Piranha normally does better.

  • Comments: this was almost a five minute improvement from last year--but know I still have room for improvement (especially on the run)

  • Comments: This is a great race, especially for beginners (or people like me, who have been away for a while). Neil and everyone at Piranha do a great job with their races. While I was disappointed with all of the pond grass in the lake, it's a challenging bike, and a good run.

  • Comments: The race was very well organized and excellently run and staffed. I would definitely look to do another piranha race in the future.

  • Comments: Well put together race. Very organized communications through the website not email... Not like Phili tri where you get 7 emails a week that repeat the same thing but you need to read to make sure you did not miss anything...

  • Comments: This was my first triathlon and I loved it! It was very well organized (I've done over a 100 bike races...years ago) and everyone was friendly. The post race food was good as well! Loved those hoagies!!

  • Comments: Very solid event; Piranha seems to have their stuff together. They handled pre-race packet pick-up very efficiently and I had plenty of time left over to set up transition. I like the way transition spots were assigned too...you might not get that great a spot but it's very organized and everybody has plenty of room. They got the race off on time too; actually started before I even knew it had happened. Judging from the number of mountain and hybrid type bikes - and my finishing in the middle of the pack - this is very much a first-timers type race. Think that may be why it's so popular...people see two-mile run and think, "I can do that." And they can, but it was a challenge too. As I think back on my season, the eye-openers are that this "oddball" race (which I almost blew off because it was "only" a two mile run) and the duathlon in April were two of the hardest events I did all year; I wouldn't have expected that beforehand.

  • Comments: cold day, water was surprisingly warm (relatively speaking, didn't need wetsuit), not as crowded as i though it would be. still a challenging, fun course for a sprint.

  • Comments: Not as good as North East Tri, but still an enjoyable race. Would consider coming back next year (mainly to try and challenge myself to do better!)

  • Comments: This is a great race for people like me that have an OW swim phobia they are trying to beat. While the short distances are good for first timers, the bike course and run could be a challenge unless they train for it. I was hoping this race would be overwhelmingly made-up of people like me that are new to tris and just want experience to help them learn and build from...but I think there are a good portion of experienced and very competitive triathletes here, so come ready to compete if that is your goal. The race was well organized, but they could do some improvements with the start of the swims. Everything else was fantastic, and I would like to do this again next year.

  • Comments: I really liked Marshman (it is its first year), but hope that next year the number of racers will be limited to around 300. The swim and bike portions were very crowded. So much so on the bike that people were not adhering to USAT rules for drafting, passing, blocking, etc. I will definitely put this on my race calendar for next year!!
