  • Comments: Good food afterwards. Smoothies and pasta, plus whole grain breads. Enjoyable except for the pre-race rain, that could not be helped.

  • Comments: This race was great that U of I tri team did it right. Lots of volunteers always cheering for you as you come by. They got it running on time and everything was organized well. I will definitely try to be back for this one next year.

  • Comments: I will definitely be back again next year. While this was my first triathlon and I don't have anything to compare the race to, it struck me as being a rather well organized affair (especially considering it's run by a group of unpaid college kids).

  • Comments: In their second year I think the U of I triathlon team has done a good job. Very solid early-season race. Definitely my best placing ever. I really felt like I was moving out there, which I apparently was. Fastest personal run and bike splits for me. Only person who passed me was my friend/teammate Steve who was 3rd overall. 5 in my AG at a college triathlon isn't bad at all.

  • Comments: The day started in an inauspicious way. Waiting to check my bike in some kid ran the drink cart into my wheel. I'm over it now, but I was "fairly angry" at the time. He dinged the carbon a bit, but didn't break it, and the carbon isn't structural in my wheels. His excuse? I was yelling at you guys to move, I didn't have control of that thing coming down the ramp. It was heavy." No apology, which almost made me more angry. Could have used a few more volunteers in crucial spots, but for the most part they did a good job with it. Could have also used something to show where the finish line was, it was more than a little bit hidden. They need one of those arches for next year.

  • Comments: first race hosted by student oragnization, Fighting Illini Triathlon. Some crowd control issues on the quad during the run. Swim was well run, given the number of competitors. Lack of information before and following race (email, posting of results, etc.) poor.

  • Comments: First year for this race, so I understand the lack in certain areas. It was a good course and I really enjoyed the competitiveness in my age bracket. 34 girls my age is huge! I'm used to 15 or less. Pretty cool.
