  • Comments: I am really happy with this race. Goal was just to get comfortable and have fun. I feel like I met those goals with flying colors. Extremely happy with my bike, and the cherry on top was making the podium! Tri Waco put on a good race. Very happy with the experience.

  • Comments: One of the best venues and organized races I have ever done, if they wouldn't bill it as a 5k run for the sprint, it would be better. Next time I'll come back in better shape (and 10 less pounds) and kick some butt! LOL

  • Comments: Great race. Lots of volunteer which is nice. However, transition at the beginning of the race was a little crazy. Lots of folks coming in late and crowding into the bike rakes at the last minute. SWAG bag was probably a little better than most races of this size. The city of Waco really supports this race and it is a nice venue. This is a favorite for me.

  • Comments: This is my favorite race of the season, and my 5th time doing it. I thought I really did well on the swim and the bike, I am more determined to whoop that run into shape, I will be unstoppable! And even though I placed, I am disappointed that this was my slowest time doing this race...

  • Comments: Great fast race. I did the race over 6 minutes faster than last year and got on the podium in my division (last year I missed 3rd by :08).

  • Comments: This turned out to be a great race for the MMMers! Tammy Turtle who is training for an Ironman really spanked it, best time of all of us! Tammy Tucker beat me for the first time in spite of her swim, and she absolutely ROCKED the bike leg! Connie did well considering she's missed a lot of training due to injury and vacation and Brad did a great HTFU and got it done in spite of a pretty serious uppper respiratory thing that hit him a few days before the race. We picked up or bling and headed home, showered up and went out for some greasy burgers at the Oscar Store. And then waited for Ron's fabulous Texas BBQ to finish cooking, you could smell it all over the neighborhood!! And it was worth the wait.... brisket, baby back ribs, chicken, pulled pork and sausage, potato salad, cole slaw. BBQ cabbage, greens, corn bread, and beans. Pecan pie and Tammy Turtle's banana pudding for dessert! I think everyone was too full to drink, the evening was pretty tame! There are already plans for

  • Comments: awesome getting a finisher medal!! Also, I believe I was in the top 10 since I smoked a person in bike/run who supposedly did a 1:20 total time for swim!! um, okay!!

  • Comments: GREAT race! This was done really well and I've done Jack's races before and I was pleasantly surprised by Tri-Waco. Not that his races are bad, they tend to be very cut and dry, without all the hype and pizaaz. I had a lot of fun, not my best effort but this was just a "B" race and I learned a lot.

  • Comments: THE CITY OF WACO AND JACK DID A GREAT JOB. I REALLY ENJOYED IT, AND I LOOK FORWARD TO DOING IT AGAIN NEXT YEAR (HOPEFULLY THE OLYMPIC).

  • Comments: I love this race! 1000 racers, really nice party atmosphere with bouncy houses for the kids and loud music. Beautiful outdoor amphitheater area for announcements overlooking the river, and lots of shade. Fast bike course, almost flat run course, swimming under bridges, just a nice race. I'm disappointed I didn't bring home any bling this year after being 1st AG 2 years ago and getting the Grandmaster's Award last year... New AG next year, so another goal!

  • Comments: Very well organized, though the race started 10 min behind schedule. This was due to a long prerace meeting, which isn't a bad thing. The course was fast and the river was beautiful that day. The overcast helped a lot. The lower temperatures helped 8 men to beat the previous course record. Overall great event. Plenty of food and drinks after the race. Ironhead puts on a great event every time.

  • Comments: Great water stations, plenty of volunteers, very few vendors. Drinks were limited and I was only allowed 1 water (not any bottled sports drinks). Great race for beginners.

  • Comments: Really good race!! I had a goal to come in under an hour and 30 minutes and I shattered that!! Here are the side by side comparisons from last year: ~~~~~~~2009~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~2010 Swim: 8:44 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7:50 T1: 3:02 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2:46 Bike: 37:14 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 36:40 T2: 2:08 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1:41 Run: 42:26 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 37:06 TOTAL: 1:33.36 ~~~~~~~~~~~ 1:26.05 Although I did win my AG, I received the Women's Grandmasters award! The person that came in behind me was only 15 seconds slower!!

  • Comments: No lines at the porta pots and very well organized from the race standpoint. The awarads took a long time to start and the actual race started late. The race starting late is critical given the heat.

  • Comments: This was a very good event in an area that needed something like this. Jack always puts on a top-notch event and the organization showed that. I think there is room for improvement since this was the first year for this event. The race start was about 15 minutes behind schedule and I don't know why, but it wasn't much of a problem. My only quibble, and it's a small one, is that there were not enough racks in the transition area. The bikes were packed in like sardines. I am planning on doing this race again next year and I highly recommend it. It's nice to be able to walk out of the hotel (if you got in at the host hotel) and into the transition area.
