  • Comments: This is always a great race - well run and well attended. This was my first attempt at the long course and it went well. I would recommend this race to anyone. The kid's race on Saturday is always a lot of fun too.

  • Comments: Great race! Lots of volunteers and the course was well marked. I will definitely race this again next year. It's very flat and is perfect for going all out to set a record. Great venue and all of the residents of New Town are VERY supportive of the race. Kids were out using their water guns to spray down all the racers. I had a fantastic time!

  • Comments: tons of volunteers - THANK YOU!!!!, fun atmosphere. The swim start was a little confusing as they said we'd start based on time within age group, but they announced folks just to form a line.Bike and Run paths marked very well with humnas!!! I'm doing this again next year! Thanks New Town!

  • Comments: This was my first time at this race, but it was very well organized. All three courses were clearly marked, and there were plenty of volunteers pointing out the way to go--every intersection on the bike had more than one person directing traffic. No chance to miss a turn. After race food was plentiful and varied. The bike transition area was a little tight, but with the staggered swim time start, there wasn't (at least for me) a problem during T1 and T2.

  • Comments: Best description of how this race is it was run...sufficiently. Compared to my only other race (QC Triathlon), it felt a bit disorganized. In reality it wasn't, and everything went off just fine, but you didn't have the before-race feeling of knowing exactly what was about to go down. Worked just fine for the folks who had done it before, but for the first-timers it can be a bit discouraging. The volunteers were doing a fine job and kudos to them for being out there on such a hot day! The only other complaint I have on this race is where the heck does my entry go??? Pretty much the same price as the QC Tri, but all I have to show for this one is the shirt. No finishers anything, not a whole lot on the raffle side of things (they did have two wetsuits, but everything else was pretty minor). The big raffle item (pair of Zipps) you had to purchase a special raffle ticket for. In comparison, QC Tri you got race bag, a shirt, raffles for EVERYTHING they had, plus the post-race grub

  • Comments: This was my first race so I have nothing to compare it to. However, I loved it and had a blast. I pushed myself pretty hard and the training paid off. I beat my goal time by 11 minutes! Plus, I set my goal thinking that the run was a 5k instead of a 4 miler! It was a great experience and I can't wait to do my next one.

  • Comments: Strangly - there were no gels at the aid stations. I didn't bring any with me as I assumed they would be provided (they were last year.) Didn't see that one coming... This may sound petty - but this race has the worst T-shirts of any race I've done. They run small and feel flimsy. I was optimistic they would improve over last year. Almost everyone is giving the dry-fit shirts and many give a finishers medal.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too easy

  • Comments: Venue and organization were above average. Pretty much the key to my heart from a race-directing standpoint is to post the results online ASAP. And these ones were up before I got home! Great work Ultramax!! Everything was logically laid-out and it was easy to perform as an athlete. Good work Big Shark! The only thing I would improve is the swim exit - very rocky/slippery/muddy/annoying.

  • Comments: First time event, well organized and well run for the most part. Ran out of bottled water early post-race, which I don't think should happen right away. Run course was short of the 4-mile advertised distance.
