  • Comments: This is the longest running Half Iron Distance in the area and incredibly well run and organized. There were times on the bike were cars and trucks let us know they were not happy we were on the roads but that was the only negative and nothing the race organizers could control.

  • Comments: for a local 70.3 that's not wtc branded, they did a good job. run was insanely well supported. i think had i been properly trained, i could have been dangerous on this course. until the last bit of the bike when i ran out of gas, i had a pr in me.

  • Comments: Didn't like the hairpin turn on the swim, to easy to get off course and get mixed up. The 1st bike road was horrible, didn't like the rolling hills on the run but they were not horribly steep hills. Could do it better if I had trained any on hills this year.

  • Comments: The race is a smaller local race. I was surprised how "lonely" it was. Not as many stations, not as many volunteers. But overall, it was fine. The Bounce House slippy side at the end was to die for. SOOO awesome. Like a cool pool in the middle of the Sahara.

  • Comments: Still a great and well run race. While my nerves were a 10/10 scale last year, this year I was very relaxed and confident. My training was ahead of last year. Having a good race until the run. My concerns for IM Arizona in November are huge now.

  • Comments: lessons learned ...take the third bottle just in case you miss the first aid station and have extra electrolyte tabs. Maybe eat more on the bike but I think I ate a lot so maybe that was fine.

  • Comments: I had problem breathing. When I crossed the finishers’ line I was helped out of the finishers shoot. The med people were too busy looking at the women coming out of the slip and slide. So once I was feeling well enough to walk I got up and left. This is defiantly not a WTC event.

  • Comments: What a great event - lots of competitors but laid back and well organized. A big event without much hype, in a nice area and three great courses. I was beyond pleased with the entire day.

  • Comments: Since I don't have a ton of experience with different race organizers I think they do a good job for this race. The volunteers are great, 3 aid stations on the bike, police officers at every intersection making the biking really safe for a non closed course. The run had aid stations every mile and they were great about yelling out what they had available ahead of time so you could yell back to them what you want before you even got there. The post race activities are a little lacking, but I don't know if that was because of the rain that came in or what? I considered myself pretty MOP, but it seems like they did the awards pretty quickly after I finished, I actually missed them because I had gone to my car to get more layers of clothing on. Overall though I think Without Limits does a great job on their races. I have done other races by them as well and always enjoy myself. Plus Aurora Reservoir has some really clear water, you can actually see others around you under water.

  • Comments: Without Limits took this over from Racaing Underground 1-2 years ago. Compared to Rattlesnake, this had less support. Only 6 porta-potties. Really only 2 aid stn on bike. 1 at 10 mile (turn) was also same aid stn at mile 45.5, had no water, Gatorade only. 1 at Mile ~30 entry to Bennett, had water. But one of their promotional bits is they try to economize, so this maybe wasn't out of character. Lots of police/state patrol on the bike course. Bike aides on motor cycles provided good support, I saw 3 people being assisted with tires. Choice of Wahoo fish tacos was great.

  • Comments: This was my first HIM and my goal was to do it around 6hrs. and I beat my goal by ~15min. so I was really happy! I felt good on the swim, bike, and run and felt I nailed my nutrition! The race was organized pretty well, but there should have been more porta-potties (6...are you kidding me??). Also, I thought the food at the end was kindof gross. It was cold and dry and just didn't taste good. My husband brought me a sandwich (thank god!) which I gobbled down! Also, I think they should have had more "security" in the transition area for after the race. My dad was able to walk right in, grab my bike, and leave. There was noone making sure the bikes leaving were with their rightful owners. It kindof made me worried b/c there were alot of nice tri bikes there that could have easily been stolen! The great thing though was the amount of support on the run...great aid stations and great volunteers! I will definitely keep this race in mind for next year!

  • Comments: This was a really fun race. The volunteers were fantastic, I can't thank them enough, and there was lots of support out there. The conditions didn't cooperate but thats just bad luck. I've never been challenged on so many levels, and am extremely proud of how I came through it all.

  • Comments: Well, doing a HIM as my first triathlon might not have been a very sound decision. I have even more respect now for those 300 odd people that came in ahead of me. The volunteers were terrific, as were the other participants. Everyone was really friendly. I liked the course a lot, and I think I'll do it again sometime.

  • Comments: this was a good race. Darren and his wife do a great job getting this together and the post race food is better than average in my opinion. If I do another 1/2 IM next year it will most likely be this one.

  • Comments: I'm a HIM! I signed up for this race cuz it coincided w/ the end of my HIM training plan -- needed a goal to keep me going. Then the race became my reason for the season after the training was done. By race time it was not a matter of finishing, but of beating other racers, altho I was glad to not see any of my AG close behind me at the end of the run. May have enjoyed it more w/o the additional pressure, but psyched to get 2nd. Glad taper worked, glad I did it, glad to take a week off now. There were tons of volunteers, results were almost instantaeous, and the bbq was delicious. Will probably do it again next year! 35/118 women.
