  • Comments: I had a lot of fun even though this wasn't under the best conditions health-wise for me. I did end up in the medical tent after the massage--I just had severe nausea and a headache. It might have been too much too soon after my nephrectomy.

  • Comments: This really has to be one of the best run, most exciting triathlons in the country. There are so many competitors that it's astonishing. Great fun, and it's nice to pull out a third personal best (2:53:07 ('06), 2:40:12 ('07), 2:34:50 ('08)) while getting speedier in all stages of this thing. That, hairloss, and my growing spare tire all seem to improve with my advanced age!

  • Comments: The 5430 folks put on a great race. This course was a bit too challenging for me (relative newbie BOPer), but I look forward to the opportunity to improve upon my performance next season!

  • Comments: This was my first Olympic. I wanted to break 3 hours and achieved that. Good mental approach, patient on the bike before the climb and in the final stage as well. Run was tough. Based on HR good very near LT physical effort. Still learning and improving. On to the next race.

  • Comments: Overall a fun day. I'll look at this as a good training day and a learning experience. I probably will never be a good triathlete with my swimming inabilities but what the heck. I enjoy training. Even more, I am thrilled to have met, trained and raced with so many cool people (thanks BT), And I love keeping myself in shape and the overall sense of well-being that I get from it. In the big picture, racing is just a small component of why I do triathlon and a tool to track progress... nothing more. With that said... I can't wait to improve further and have my race of the season next month at the Boulder 5430 Long Course!

  • Comments: I rated this race a 3, mostly in comparison to 5430 Sports' other races, and Boulder Peaks I've done in the past. I thought things were a little shabby this year. The race shirts were hideous and will immediately go into my dust rag drawer, they gave away BLACK WATER BOTTLES on the bike. Black? Thanks for the boiling water! Then the water was HOTTTT at every run aid station. I've seen better races from this organization in the past.

  • Comments: Well organized as usual. One problem that I saw was at the aid stations on the run. It was great to have them every mile, but they seemed more chaotic than usual. Some of them had water on one side and gatorade on the other, so if you wanted both you had to cross to the other side of the course. This caused some traffic flow problems. They also have some problems getting consistently sized t-shirts. I'm okay with the design, but my medium shirt would be small on the average 12 year old boy. I wear between a small and medium shirt typically, but this shirt is smaller than my smallest wicking t-shirt. The shirts from last year's Sprint race were similarly problematic.

  • Comments: Only improvement would have been to have some cold water on the run course because without any shade it was rough. Like other people noted too the shirt are ug-ly, but the race is really well organized and run and the course is pretty fun once you get over the hill. Went 4' faster than last year so even though my run was slower and I know I could have done better there, for a non-'A' race it was a success. And with so many friends and BT'ers there not to mention the very competative field it makes for a fun race. In retrospect anyway.

  • Comments: The shirts for the Boulder series this year suck. I mean really, light blue for the sprint and green and blue for the Peak. That's just lame. They better make up for it at the half.

  • Comments: What a wonderful, great day at the races. Nice to have a dramatic Personal Best! Thought about Sean (12 year old in a coma) during race, along with other friends who are suffering, and really let it out. Very happy with bike ride (doing more passing then being passed), and the same on the run. Very proud of this performance, actually. Barry ran the race incredibly well. He's bummed about the funny/ratty t-shirts, but otherwise I think he has to be thrilled. Mike Ricci and D3 really are just amazing, as I never would have improved without them.

  • Comments: There's a reason this race sells out every year and has representation from 48? 49? states - if there's a better run event out there somewhere, I'd like to see it. It starts on time and had sky divers carrying the flag, the volunteers were fantastic, the crowds were great, it's well-marked with plenty of aid stations, and they had the pros come in at the end so you could watch them fly through. Pretty neat to be able to watch Tim Deboom, Amanda Lovato, etc. roll through while you're hanging out afterwards. No reason not to do this race again.

  • Comments: Overall, an awesome race. I set what I thought was an ambitious goal time and beat it. Top 10 in that field makes me very happy, and I'm proud of the way that I raced, handled pain, managed the course, and pushed. I left it all out there and I think the results speak for themselves.

  • Comments: 5430 Sports puts on a great event. From the sky divers, hot air balloons, and dove release before the swim to the great volunteers on the course, to the post-race food and activities, everything is first class.

  • Comments: My 1st Oly and my goal was -3hrs and I did so I'm really happy. And I left room to improve for next year, um, on purpose. I got my pics frmo the sprint and I looked so serious in them all so I wanted o make sure & have a good time here. Got home and went to take out my contacts and it turns out the one I thought was gone was gone so I think I did the entire race without it and didn't even realize. Race was well run and organized as expected. Really cool to see alot of the top names in the sport in person too as well as such a big group of BT'ers.
