  • Comments: Love the new start method. Don't like the bike finish (not the normal finish which has been modified to account for road construction). The climb up Old Stage is challenging - may have taken a lot out of me - more than I thought.

  • Comments: peak is what it is - a harder-than-average Olympic. pissed that the bike course was shortened due to the stupid construction on the diagonal, pissed that I got some cheap t-shirt and not a tech tee, cranky that the volunteer on the stage aid station couldn't get me my water bottle. I think if I ever want to do well at this race, i'm gonna have to train for it.

  • Comments: Compared to last year and the year before, I felt like this race wasn't really as clear with things. The race website wasn't updated, you really had to check facebook to get current info, which I find really annoying. Even the race results are still not posted on the website, but they posted a link on facebook today (morning after race). Also in the previous two years they had a video intro telling athletes what to expect and about the course and the rules, they didn't have that this year, which really would have been nice since there was a course change from the construction. They did hand out a sheet with athlete info with the race packet, but they weren't really clear about the swim course (turn is at the red buoys) and I didn't hear any warnings about not falling into the canal by the run course (not that anyone has fallen in ever, but still). Also, I placed second in the Athena division and I didn't get an award, or even an announcement. That sucks. But that's not exactly

  • Comments: MISSED the old Peak with Barry and Jodee!!! This was overall the most emotional race of my life. I somehow was just able to do exactly what I thought. and I even let myself feel it a little at the finish line. THANK YOU to everyone for the support and amazing, overwhelming LOVE at every turn and along every step of this journey back into triathlon.

  • Comments: Where was real post-race food? I only found pretzels and bananas and crap. And this year there were just kegs of beer instead of a little beer van, which was just kind of sad, I don't know.

  • Comments: Over all I was very happy being under 3 hours. My swim was great. Still need to work on transition. Bike was good for bike, but I think it hurt my run. Run was hard and I wanted to do better.First Oly is in the books. HIM next. Overall I thought it was a great distance to race. I would like to do more Olys.

  • Comments: So I improved in all components but one and that one should have been planned for better. This has been an "off" year for me, plagued with injury and a plethora of other limiting factors. Between the move here, altitude adjustments, change in training time/abilities (and some are a positive), pending deployment in a week, and overall stress levels...it has been a weird year. I will say this though - my muscles can handle the abuse better than last year, my cardio is miles ahead of last year, and experience is helping my decision making. What I need is to prepare better both mechanically and physically. I need more bricks and I need to make them longer. I think I'm at that next wall and I need to bust through it. I didn't reach my time goal this year and only barely beat last year's...it's time to up the effort in training. I also need to have my bike better suited to this area. Sure, I can climb all day on my MTB, but my TT is not setup properly for the terrain here. I will be

  • Comments: I had so much fun! The only thing that makes this "too hard" was the hill on Olde Stage, even though I did handle it, I was wheezing like I was going to pass out. I'd say that I was at 95% effort up most of it, it was really, really hard. But then the feeling of having conquered it was fantastic, and the fast race down the canyon was exhilarating! Plus the volunteers were so enthusiastic and cheering and there was plenty of water and gatorade and I can't really think of a better experience for my first olympic triathlon.

  • Comments: Good race. The olympic distance is a distance that is hard enough for me that I have to train properly but not too hard that it is frustrating or kills me afterwards.

  • Comments: Very organized, plenty of volunteers, no long lines in/out of transition at start/finish of race. Body marking and timing chips were handled very well. Plenty of support on the course. Limited bathroom access before race, which caused some to miss wave starts Post race food was poor compared to last year

  • Comments: Very well organized compared to the sprint. Swim course was not the way they planned in the pre race brochure. I think it was left hand turns and a rectangle. I feel sorry for the first wave because they were still adjusting the booies. And what was up with the wacky swim course? There was not really a turn at the first yellow marker. Then almost a 180 degree turn at the next yellow marker.

  • Comments: Most people hate that climb in the beginning of the bike, but I LOVE it! It really made for an interesting sight seeing people struggle up it as you just spin yourself past them.

  • Comments: What a difference a year makes. 23+ minute improvement from last year (had an 8 minute T1 last year though, so maybe "only" 18 minutes). Only problem is that I promised myself I would complete the tri series (Long Course) if I broke 3 hours. Still debating this one as I don't think I'm ready and I never want to feel after a race the way that I felt after last year's Peak. Might have to put off the Long Course until next year. Cloud cover came at the perfect time during the run. Thrilled with race but still see loads of opportunity for improvement.
