  • Comments: Great Race! This was a PR for me - a full 12 minutes faster than my best half marathon! woo hoo :) Enjoyed running with friend and getting out of the COLD SNOWY winter of Baltimore for the WARM SUNSHINE of Florida. Location was nice - waterfront was fun.

  • Comments: When I parked my car it was 61 degrees. By the end of the run it was hot, even for february. This race has been going on for a long time so I think they have it down. Lots pf volunteers, lots of water stations, even some entertainment. (Personally I don't care for mimes, but whatever.) I didn't stick around for the post race activities, I had my two bottles of water, got my picture taken and then went home and had my second breakfast, like a hobbit.

  • Comments: There used to be a marathon with this race, but that was discontinued this year. Maybe it's just that I've done this race five years in a row but it felt a little like the race has lost some of its energy; we got to expo two hours before it closed down so maybe that explains the empty feel to it. No one passing out mardi gras beads at mile 10 as in past years. Instead of shrimp and mussels in the paella, it was chicken breast (still good food!). Probably my last year for Gasparilla.

  • Comments: I finished the race at 8 am and the after party didn't start until 10 am so I didn't stick around. I hear the the after party is a lot of fun but it was a little cold to hang out. The race is a lot of fun and I plan to do it again.

  • Comments: I have absolutely no complaints about the Gasparilla race and actually really liked everything about it. The only minor issue is that they were not consistent in the hydration station layouts. Sometimes the gatorade was at the first set of tables and sometimes the water was on the first set of tables. Would have preferred all stations to be the same.

  • Comments: This was a great event, especially for a first 1/2. Lots of people giving the right experience. I must make sure I always find an appropriate pace group. I also listened to some iPod music from time to time, this helped in clearing the mind.

  • Comments: I love this race. I have done it twice now. Next year if we can afford it, I am flying Rickey out with me, so we can do some site seeing too...Not sure if that will be feasibly possible...but will see. I am happy with my time concidering 3 weeks ago I was hit by a drunk driver and that threw my training off...and the weather in SJ has been and remains to be bad...This saturday rain or shine I am going out running. and Sunday is a bike ride...hopefully it clears up / warms up.

  • Comments: Only issues I saw were the crowd at the start (unavoidable, but might be better to have separate 1/2 and full starts). My wife also had some issues with her chip that she's trying to work out. I don't have a huge frame of reference, but I think it was a very well-run race. I'll definitely do it in the future.

  • Comments: The 1/2 course is great and what I saw of the full, it was equally as nice. Running in the dark is fabulous. I would love to run a full marathon all in the dark. Expo was great, after party wa ok, nothing for vegitarians but bread. (Seafood had meat in it, beens and rice had meat in it). There was free beer (Michalob Ultra) and music which was nice. On a side note: I read the paper on Monday and it states that the first place woman in the half was disqualified because she registered for the full and only finished the half. Now that is what I did, but I emailed and then went to the info booth like I was told. They did not take my number or name down at the info booth, just stated that I had to run the half course. I am emailing the race director about this so she is aware that the expo staff is alllowing this. Now there seems to be other details to the winner story (she has done this before and been disqualified). But either way, be careful as it doen't seem that they treat all equal

  • Comments: after race: went to Convention center, got my bag, laid on floor to try to stretch. Went to bathroom, still no go. Saw Jeff and Mike again, and Q told me his news and gave him a great big hug! yay!!! He is so awesome!! I didn't get to see him finish though. So, had to leave from there, the boys were home alone and had to do the mommy thing. Took a nap. Took kids out for lunch. And all this crap and I still beat the last time I ran this- in 2006 with Renee, Max, et al in 2:35:35 on fresh legs. So I PR'ed twice in one weekend! I swear, I think all the BTers PRed this weekend!! whoo hoo!!

  • Comments: WOW! just wow! I am a 9 mm runner. I am a triathlete. Really the only thing I can come up with for this performance from me is- adding sodium, pickles, and such to my diet.

  • Comments: This was a huge breakthrough for me. Positive contributiong factors (esp over Disney) include 1-weather, it was MUCH cooler 2-I was better rested 3-My legs felt so much better 4-I fueled and hydrated better I think. I spent a lot of the race trying not to think about last year. We ran with a big silly group last year and in a lot of ways that time was a turning point for me. This year all that is seemingly over and the race brought back some now painful memories for me. Despite that I was able to put it all aside and concentrate on having the best race I possibly could, so I am proud of myself for not only physically doing well but being mentally tough and not letting 'stuff' bring me down. It was a much different experience. I think there are good and bad things about ruuning solo and running in a group. The group was fun but as I am usually the slowest one I ALWAYS feel terrible for holding people back and not letting them do their very best. For me running solo this year
