  • Comments: Hard to know how to rate these as this was my first race. The Buttar folks were very helpful. They conducted a Webinar on Weds. night before the race that answered a lot of questions. Definitely, got me hooked and we plan to do another one of theirs in July.

  • Comments: First race in 45-49 AG, very happy with results considering there wasn't much of a taper. This age group (45-49) was not real competive but I'm still extremly happy to take home my first piece of tri hardware with the 3rd place in category.

  • Comments: Buttar's races seem to be less run by Z and more run by a corporation. His races have always had the laid back feel of a family run event and this year that feeling is not there.

  • Comments: This was my first of many duathlons! I really like the run/bike/run because I'm not a strong swimmer. I hope to continue racing TRIs and DUs but for now, until I increase my swim training it's all about the DU.

  • Comments: Placed second in my AG. Had a great time, and met some ever greater people. BTer are aways going to be there for each other, and that kind of support you can not get anywhere else. Great job Cat, Angelo, and Elizabeth! And great job to any other BTer that was there! It was a good race to get my barrings and learn on what I need to practice on, i.e. OWS, upgraded equipment, and just steady group training. Until next time...Later

  • Comments: I did not register for this race until the day before so I was not planning nor prepping for it. Except the lost 5 mins in the water, I did really well and my back held up just fine.

  • Comments: I'm a bit depressed about this race, I'm more than 10 minutes slower than the last time I did it, and it would have been even more slow, if the swim wasn't short...I trained all winter, and feel like I went significantly backwards...instead of forward...everyone who I knew that was there had BETTTER times than they did last time, even with the cold and wind, so I dont really even have an excuse... I am throwing myself a bit of a pity party right now...if you can...I really need an inspire - I haven't had one in weeks :( PS-I put out a sign for beginner triathletes to meet up, it was there for about an hour near where they had the pancakes and eggs after the race, but I didn't see anyone from here:(

  • Comments: Overall I really like this race course and the buttar organization. They put on a pretty nice race. The swim is always a daunting challenge for me because of the murky water but the course is layed out really nicely. The distance to run from the water to the transition is a bit much but I know things can't be perfect. The bike course this year was really nice. Smooth roads and pretty fast. There were lots of course workers until the run. The run course needed to be more clearly marked. I don't know if it's a lack of course workers at the turns, lack of course markings or what but the run course had some areas that were not clearly marked. Along the 2nd mile of the 5K course. I saw runners coming from another road where they shouldn't have been so either I went the wrong way or they did. I didn't pay that any attention because I was in my zone and wanted to finish strong, which I did.

  • Comments: Just wish the distances were a bit more nailed down. I had a great time on this course. But damn, I was just so happy to be tri-ing!!! Both Jess and I won our age groups. OK, so there were two people in mine. But still, I came in ahead of the other guy. Last year I was last every time, except for once. So last to first in a year is OK with me!! Besides, it gets two of my goals out of the way..."Wildman in 1:15 or less" (ok 1:15:54 is close enough!!) and "start placing in sprint events". I would definitely do this race again, it was lots of fun!!! I'll bet the Saturday event was more crowded. I wonder how I would have stacked up against the Saturday people...hmmmmmmm.
