  • Comments: Hard to know what was planned after the race because everybody was just running for cover. Results were slow because of the rain. Seemed very well organized until Mother Nature showed her fury.

  • Comments: When I went and saw Macca a couple months ago, he mentioned that his best race, isn't even Hawaii when he won, but it was last year, when he was 4th, because he struggled so much, and yet he finished 4th. While this race is no IM Championships, and I didn't finish anywhere close to 4th, I KEPT thinking about this throughout the day...during the panic in the swim...while trying to hammer the bike...and trying to have a solid finish on the run. The fact that I was able to get through that swim, mentally, and not give up, was a huge success for me. And as it turns out, this was almost 5 minutes faster than my overall time in 2008. SO that is a good achievement too. The last couple days I've been really beating myself up about my performance out there, and I just need to let it go...and I know it's not good to compare myself to others, so I just have to move on, be happy that I improved, learn from the areas that I didn't do well on, and be prepared for what lies ahead. Am I still

  • Comments: The event was run pretty well on the day of. The posted maps were hard to read and/or inaccurate, so prep beforehand was not worth my time. Signs were not up during packet pickup the day prior, so I didn't have a good idea of where bike in/out run in/out would be for transitions. I think they could have used more signage to communicate sprint vs international differences rather than having volunteers speak it - I had no problems, but I theard a few people were not told which direction the Int'l bike route went. Signs would help this.

  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: This is a great event. Lots of people and you get to see everyone multiple times on the run. Very nice award ceremony and raffle at the end (although it is long). Couple of minor complaints: 1) Post event food sucks 2) They need a better way to have spectators park and watch, as well as the athletes getting in to the event 3) There were some changes to both bike and run courses. The volunteers really need to stay on top of those points where the course changed. Lots of oly people taking the sprint routes on the run... 4) Either need to go back to the old bike course (24.85 exactly) or find a way to get that extra 1.5 miles back in Still, love the venue, and the race.

  • Comments: This was my first Oly distance and I beat my goal time by 17 min! So I think I did just fine for my first :) Placed 3rd in my AG, which I definitely wasn't expecting. But it was a great experience and I can't wait for the next!

  • Comments: This is a great race. The venue is nice, streets are closed and there are always lots of volunteers. My only, only gripe is the post-race food. This is the only thing I think that could be improved on. Bagel pieces and bananas were it. Okay, I lied, there are two. The bike course has changed a few times, and the current one is at bit over a mile short. I realize that they can't make roads up that don't exist, but there's got to be something to get this a little bit closer to the full Oly distance. I look forward to this race, as it's pretty close by, and it's a very well run/organized event. I will definitely come back to do this race again, despite my 2 suggestions to improve it. They really are minor quibbles in comparison to everything else that is done right at this race. They really put a some great race that is a lot of fun.

  • Comments: I never know if this is about the race or about my overall performance so I'll do both. I liked the race and felt it was really well done. I almost feel like this was my first real race given the number of participants. Now about my performance. My thoughts about the race pre race for goals were, 3:40 > 4:00 > DFL > DNF. During the swim I was able to focus on that. During the bike I was mostly able to focus on it. I fell apart on the run mentally. All in all I nearly hit those goals. I came very close to the top goal even. My only real complaint about my performance was to maybe not stop so much in the run and keep my head about me a bit better. However to see that I really took dfl in my division excepting the gentleman who didn't finish frustrates me as it did in Lake Mills. All in all logically I know that I did well. I hit nearly all my goals, again. Emotionally I'm frustrated with falling apart mentally on the run and taking DFL in my division and nearly so in

  • Comments: Great race overall. Next time I'll have a better feeling for how far the parking is and plan my morning better so I don't have to stress about making it before transition closes. A little annoyed with the black and navy swim caps. Too difficult to quickly spot other swimmers. Had a GREAT day and will most likely do it again.

  • Comments: They really do put on a good race at Pleasant Prairie. Especially considering you have to be bussed to the site. On time. Organized. TONS of volunteers. Just an overall well run race. I'm doing the OLY again next year to see if I can get sub 2:30.

  • Comments: As I sit here thinking about this season of racing (it was fun to be back at it after a year off) and looking towards next year, this is a distance that I find very appealing. While it is possible to get through it on very little training, it is also possible to get pretty good at it with the training that I am capable of putting in (as opposed to the HIM which is still mostly about finishing). Next year I might try to work solely on this distance and see what I can do. I feel like had I shown up in the same shape that I was in just a month ago did all the proper race prep a 2:30 would have very easily been in the cards, which puts me into the top 1/3 of the race. With another season of work who knows.

  • Comments: It was well run with the exception of the shuttles. Was it worth the near $100 entry fee? Maybe... Not sure I will be back next year unless there is a large Donkey contingent again!

  • Comments: This is a well-run, fun race. They could've had a couple more shuttle buses but all in all it was done very well. I enjoyed it again and it was good to see my fellow Donks. EEAWWWW!!! OK that was long-winded. I need to go practice peeing in my wetsuit and turning corners at 28 miles an hour.

  • Comments: This was another good learning experience for me. I learned that I need to get to the race as early as I possibly can to avoid any rush with getting ready. I think that definitely increased my pre-race heart rate going into the swim. I also learned that I need to figure out how to keep my heart rate down during the swim because that's the point where I think I wasted too much energy. More training and more experience should help with this. I missed my goal time by 6 minutes or so but that just means I'll have another chance to do it in the future!

  • Comments: Even though I had the stomach issue on the run, I ABSOLUTELY love this race and I will come back every year I am racing. The race director is great, the volunteers are great, the lake is great, run is flat. I just think once the oly bike course goes back to it's usual route, I will love it that much more. It is now Tuesday at around 10 after 1 Chicago time that I am finally finishing this, and I just want to give another shout out to all the BT'ers for being so supportive of me yesterday when I was still really beating myself up about this race...I don't care what teams are out there, or other website like this there are, I've seen it so many times, and now with me yesterday, we really support each other, in good times and bad, and that is really special. My mom would be so proud of you all for helping me lift my spirits yesterday...so thank you!! Cheers! :) GENDER PLACE: 200/246

  • Comments: Once again, I really enjoyed this race. I find this distance a perfect challenge between pace and speed. It was great to see all the overall effort and PR's from all my new friends. EEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWSome job everyone. The venue is pretty good also. The swim and run are great - the bike left a little to be desired because of the 2 loop deal but I understand that was only becasue of road construction this year. I will definitely be back next year.
