  • Comments: I was hit by a car on my tt bicycle on July 29th so this was my first race back since Syracuse 70.3. I feel pretty good but I lost a lot of fitness and spring to my step. I feel like I really have work for everything.

  • Comments: Eventpower does all their races awesome but this one was stellar, my favorite one to date ... need to do a few more Oly's but I think this is the distance I prefer.

  • Comments: I went into the season looking at this race hoping for a sub 2:50 for my first Oly but as the race approached and I realistically looked at where my fitness was, I was resigned to something along the lines of 3:10. So, really I'm very happy with this result.

  • Comments: This was my first Olympic distance event. I was hoping for an under 3 hour finish, predicting between 2:40 and 2:50. So I was thrilled with the 2:45 time (not to mention finishing alive). I've done Tobay (sprint) a few times, so this was a new experience for me. I highly recommend it to anyone. Had a great time, can't wait for 2011 to hopefully get a finish in the 2:30s.

  • Comments: Not a fan of this race. First, it is FAR out there on Long Island. Getting up at 3 AM (after four hours of sleep) to drive two hours isn't a great way to start race day. It also discourages friends and family from spectating- including my own. Other complaints (and these aren't influenced by my terrible performance)... Swim course was very poorly marked. Having one buoy a half-mile away to sight off of doesn't work. Volunteers on the race course were unenthusiastic and didn't offer a single word of encouragement. One guy was actually asleep on the side of the road. Thanks, dude. Also, for the $135 race fee, I don't think I got my money's worth. Compared to Tobay, the swag was crap (loved the race shirt, but the only other things in the bag were a tube of toothpaste and chapstick- weird) and the food was nothing special. For 135 bucks, something more than a bagel and peanut butter would be nice. OK I'll stop because I'm being bitter. To end on a positive note... The announcers were good

  • Comments: i think with the righ bike, i can better my time by 3-4 minutes. and if i can learn to swim straight i can better my swim time by 1 min.

  • Comments: Now I feel like I really understand what a triathlon is. This was very different from a sprint. I felt so good knowing that I had worked so hard all summer and was able to complete this goal and felt good while doing it! I am so excited to do this race and this distance again.

  • Comments: The Mighty Hamptons was a decent race despite the rainy, wet and cold conditions. I certainly did not have an ideal race, many other things I didn't mention went wrong, but I made the best of it and maintained a positive attitude. The race was well mapped, organized, and staffed. The bike was scenic and run was flat and fast. It was also kind of cool having T.J. Tollakson there. For me personally, I'm grateful to even be able to participate in this race after separating my shoulder exactly three weeks ago. I'm already eager to sign up for this race next year and race it in ideal, sunny conditions. My personal goal is a sub 2:30 and I am determined to continue training for and racing this course until I accomplish it, no matter how many years it takes.

  • Comments: This was a great race. I wish the sun was out to be able to enjoy the scenery that the course offered. The rain made the event much more memorable for me. This was my first OLY distance and I was hoping to finish in under 3 hours. The firat thing I thought as I crossed the finish line was "This was the most difficult thing that I have ever done." It was a great endding to my 2nd year of doing tri's, I enjoy the OLY distance much more than I thought I would. I will be back next year. I am glad that I didn't sign up for the Montauk HIM, I have got alot of work to do this winter.

  • Comments: Anyone contemplating a late season Olympic distance on the East End of LI should consider this race. Absolutely gorgeous venue and extremely well-run. A little pricey, but hey, it's the Hamptons. I want to Thank everyone who encouraged me leading up to this race and the entire BT community, without whom I would have probably quit doing tri's months ago. I'm not back 100% mentally yet from Laura's death, but I'll be back soon. IMFL 2010 anyone??? :)

  • Comments: There were not NEARLY enough porta-potties. I got in line at 6:00 and it took me until 5 minutes before the first wave, (mine) was to go off at 6:30 to get in. I hurried my business, not completely finishing things, (I think I gave myself a hemorrhoid rushing it) then ran to get my wetsuit, ran back to the start, had to work my way through the crowd of later waves waiting around, (missed all of the orientation) swam out towards start, just as the horn sounded. They needed a lot more porta-potties for 720+ athletes. (and their families and friends) There were 8 at the end near the start and another set (the same amount?) at the other end where the line was even longer. There were lots of people still in line behind me, who were also in the first wave; I don't know what happened to them. They had a barbecue which started about an hour and half after the race, by which time the parking lot was almost empty of athletes' vehicles. They could have spent more on jons and less on burgers and

  • Comments: Great race! This was the perfect way for me to finish my second season of triathlon. I have a lot of confidence to carry me into next year. I am very proud of the step I took from sprint races to my first olympic. I see so many changes in myself. I look at myself in a whole new light now. Towards the end of the run, I was looking at the people around me and marveling at how athletic they were, then I started thinking, I am right there with these people. What a great feeling. I loved the olympic distance experience as well. I think that maybe once I do my first IM, I might just keep doing these races as they are both fun and they give you more of a feeling of accomplishment.
