  • Comments: This is my first time doing this race and it was a good challenge for an olympic distance. The medal really was pretty awesome, one of the nicest I have received yet. The scenery around the park is very welcoming. Although they do cheap out on materials such as bike tags and helmet stickers. The helmet sticker was paper based and tore apart trying to remove and is a mess on my helmet, the bike tag simply tore off on the bike on course. There was no electrolyte drinks on the run course.

  • Comments: This is a good local race. Very competitive field. The course is hilly (both bike and run) lots of fun.

  • Comments: This is part of an annual series of races at Bonelli Park in the spring, one pair of races in each of April, May, and June. I've done other races put on by this promoter at this venue in the fall, but not any in this series before. There's definitely a local (and low budget) vibe to the events this RD puts on, but they attract quality athletes. Bonelli Park as a race venue is challenging (very hilly with some crappy roads), but is generally a good place to race.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: I can't believe that a race that has been in existence for 30 years and that charges this much, doesn't cover parking in the park, doesn't have finisher medals or decent post race activities. As someone who is connected to several races I know that a little reinvestment goes a long way and they fail miserably. This is obviously a family that is more interested in lining their pockets with cash than they are taking care of the athletes. The Expo was almost nonexistent, there was little to no finish line support, a half a peanut butter sandwich and half a banana. Water only on the course with very limited volunteer support. It is unfortunate because the race itself was good but I will avoid it in the future unless they decide to step up and put some of the money back into the race. When will these Race Directors learn that without athletes they won't have races.

  • Comments: Definitely a challenging course. I'm not planning on doing all three again next year. Right now the plan is to do this Oly-distance race again but maybe I'll do one of the sprints, too. I do wish they had some Gatorade at the finish line. The oranges really hit the spot, though.

  • Comments: Overall this was a good course and a nice race but it was really the fist hot (I mean hot) weekend of the year and I think it took the race director by surprise. The bike course had no aid stations and while the run course had lots of aid, they were running out of water and cups and I think they were picking up cups tossed by runners and re-using them. Once I figured that out, I stopped taking water so I didn't catch anything. At the end there was no water except the drinking fountains at the restrooms at the park. There were some pissed off thirsty people.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: It is not that the course was too hard, but it was challenging. Also, mile markers on the run would have been nice. Better luck next time =(

  • Comments: I used this race as a final tune up for VineMan Ironman 70.3. I did not taper and treated it as a high intensity training day. I need to work on transitions and getting in and out of my shoes.

  • Comments: A very sweet, campy race. Not particularly well organized, but very sweet, fun, and a great way to spend a Sunday morning. Definitely would do it again. UPDATE: EVEN with the craziness with the tire, etc., I came in 3rd in my age group!!! This is the first time I podiumed! Dang, I really want my medal so badly. Also, if I hadn't had the tire issue, with my bike time, etc., I would have come in second with 8 minutes to spare. SWEET!

  • Comments: Free hot food from Boy Scouts for racers, very cool! The raffle sucked, not cool. Bike course and run course poorly marked and not supervised. The volunteers that were there were great, just too few of them.

  • Comments: This was a fairly well organized race with a few goofy points about it. No body markings, no T1 splits, some shortcomings on the run curse marking, no pre-raceday packet pick up... all these together made it feel like a B race. Then again, my last race being Wildflower which was supremely well organized and administered in contrast. In fairness to the race director, those are really the only things that I could pick on, and why bother picking? Its a great race venue. The lake swim was fantastic. This was a nice local race with a good frequency (four or so per year) Despite the three goofy strikes against it, i'll be back to this one.

  • Comments: I could do without the icky water. The pavement was a little rough on sections of the ride. There were plenty of volunteers and the traffic control was good. I had no problems finding my way around the course once the race got under way. I'd race here again since it's so close to my home.
