  • Comments: The swim is two waves so it's crowded and rough. It will be tough to perform above your usual pace. Transitions are smooth and not too crowded. The bike course has lots of hills but nothing terrible. There are some fast downhill runs. The run is flat and hot. Well-organized and the volunteers are great. Good aid stations, good food at the end. My second year to race it and I'll be back next year.

  • Comments: Great race for the team. The kits looked great and we picked up a lot of hardware and we had several just out of placing ending up 4th. Overall good race and a good prep for RiverCities.

  • Comments: Another 1st in my AG at Jefferson! I've never received anything else! But for these local races I think I should be getting top 3. Jefferson is always fun, especially with so many people I know racing. I hope it continues on.

  • Comments: I enjoyed the course and support. But I think a couple changes could make this race fantastic: 1) race coordinators at event early and setup on time 2) smaller waves of swimmers at the beginning

  • Comments: Very pleased with this race. This time last year would've gotten me 2nd overall! Guess the cooler weather made that much of a difference. But I did improve over 6 minutes from last year, although I was just coming off a honeymoon last year too. Jefferson doesn't have alot of frills, but that really doesn't bother me. All the unnecessary frills that people want are driving the price of racing higher and higher. I don't need a medal. I don't need a trophy. I just want to race, and Jefferson provides that on a pretty challenging sprint course.

  • Comments: I absolutely love this race. Nice, small race. Did I mention they start at 8am? The post race is as good as any, the bike course is simple (turnwise) and challenging, and there is decent shade on the run course. My only complaint is there is basically no security in the transition area.

  • Comments: Jefferson is about as fun a race as I can ask for. It's got the great hometown feel that I really enjoy when racing sprints. If it wasn't for the country bumpkin that threw water on my during the run, this race would've been ran perfectly. And results took a little while to come out. But nothing serious. I was having too much fun drinking and chatting to realize they weren't out yet!

  • Comments: Great race venue, nice OWS, beautiful bike course, and nice park run. Lots of volunteers who did a great job, well organized, etc. Definitely a good race. I will say that there did not appear to be as many beginners at this race as there were in Athens, thus my finish was comparatively poor, but I actually thought I performed better than in Athens. I could tell a big difference in my run as I felt much better than in March. I was not faster, but I had a more relaxed and less taxing run than before. So, I did notice some improvement even though the time does not show it.

  • Comments: This was a very well run race and pre/post race activities. I believe there were 4 aid stations on the run, 2 of which encountered both ways. I actually passed through some not taking anything. My only gripe would be the lack of race specific (courses, wave starts, etc) info in the packet.

  • Comments: Ok, the race report definitely has a negative tone to it. Because frankly I had higher expectations for myself. I am my biggest critic, and maybe that's a good thing, maybe it's a bad thing. The good news: Despite what I consider a fairly poor performance, I GOT FIRST PLACE IN MY AG!!! After I finished I swung around to cheer Big John Stud, Chris, and Cliff on in. I thought my time might have earned me hardware. As results come out I notice I'm hovering around 20. I see two people my age in front of me. So I think, just hang on to 3rd baby! Then I realize that the 2 people in front of me are the 1st place and 3rd place finisher. So they don't fall into the AG categories. So I take first place by an overwhelming margin (around 6 minutes). Well, a fake first place I guess, since people my age really beat me. Head on over and throw down a mean baked potato and a few beers. Make my way over to the awards ceremony, and pick up the hardware. John makes me take off my shades.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: The course was a hard one for a beginner....and this is someone who prior to April 2006 was a couch potato. I thought the bike course was very demanding and for a beginner, very challenging. The run course was fine for a beginner, but this beginner hates to run and didn't hardly train near enough to run. Overall the Jefferson Tri is a great triathlon and I am glad that I did it. But, I am disappointed in how I did overall. It has humbled me and made me realize that even though I am a triathlete, I want to be a better triathlete. Perhaps I am being too hard on myself and should pat myself on the back more. Perhaps I need to remember that prior to April, I was fat, unhealthy, unfit and not an athlete by any means. Perhaps I need to remember that I did something on Sunday that less than 10% of the population can say that they attempted or would attempt to do. Perhaps I need to be proud that at least I am taking steps to change myself into a healthier and fitter person. Perhaps I should

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: This was a challenging bike course. If you are looking for a PR, it ain't going to happen on this course; this course was my slowest Personal Worst. It really makes you work in the 6 hill climbs. 2 really steep "dam" hills -- 4 others that were just long and steady. Expect your average speed to be at least 2-3 mph slower than other courses. About 1 mph sacrificed for every 2 hills. Being in the right gear will make a big difference. If you gear down too low......you just won't go anywhere. Good luck. Never again.

  • Comments: Good race I met most of my goals I did not drown or fall off the bike, I did not come in last, but missed my 1:50 goal. I knew the 1:50 would be hard to reach I am satisfied with my performance I could not have done better in my current physical condition. Overall time was 1:58 by chip timing seems a bit off by my timing but I may have messed my timing up a bit. Ill add the remainder of information when the results are posted.
